Major recording artist DINO talks life, art of hustling, dreams and details why his career is on #THECOMEUP

.

What is your artist name?

Dino

Explain what your name means?

Dino is simply a play off of my real name Domino. I originally wanted to go with that but as most music fans and pros know, that name was used as a pseudonym by another artist back in the 90’s. So I wasn’t left with many options coming up with a name that was close to my real name.

What city and state are you representing?

That is really kind of hard to say. I live in Texas and I can’t lie; Texas has been really good to me over the years so I can’t help but have love and respect for it. But my hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana will always be part of my DNA and I will rep it to the fullest!

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

I don’t think I actually have a style of rapping but if I had to choose something I would have to describe it as clever, clear, understandable and relatable. Obviously I have a Southern feel to my music being from Baton Rouge, but the style itself changes (sometimes drastically) depending on the song.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

My first hint of inspiration to pursue a music career came from Master P. The first time I saw him, he was coming out a Casino with his crew and the only thing I remember thinking is “Damn he’s tall.” Then later I saw him on BET and I was like “I just saw this guy today! He’s on TV!” So at that moment it dawned on me that people on TV are actually people and if this guy can do something he loves, make money from it and be on TV, what is stopping me from doing the same? What really pushed me over the edge was Dr. Dre and TuPac. Seeing their level of growth and success over the years kept me motivated to pursue the dream of making music a career.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

Challenges? There were so many challenges in my youth regarding pursuing music. The most significant one I can recall at the moment is not having enough money for studio time. The engineer of the studio tried his best to work with me due to my age but it came a point where he would no longer do anything for free and required me to pay for the studio sessions. So I would borrow the neighbor’s lawnmower to go around the neighborhood cutting grass but I had to pay my neighbor 50% of what I made for borrowing the mower! So before I could get back in the studio, I had to earn enough money to buy my own mower so I could keep all the profits from cutting the grass. Eventually I was able to pay for my studio time with my grass cutting business; and believe me I spent everything I earned in the studio. I had the cheapest shoes, the cheapest pants and looked like a geek compared to all the other kids with the name brands. But my goal was much larger than name brand shoes.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

I feel very peaceful when I am recording music in the studio. You know as humans we often hide our true feelings when face to face with someone but I feel like that is my time to let the world into my head and completely express myself without holding back.

What is the message behind your music?

The only message behind my music is that you must believe in yourself and put forth your best effort to achieve success regardless of obstacles. It’s ok to fail; but it’s not ok to quit.

What do you fear the most in this business?

What I fear about the business it that talent will eventually be completely eliminated from the business. What do I mean by that? In today’s music industry, there are so many non-talented artists that are making millions simply because they have an extreme budget to market and promote themselves. Even though the playing field is much more level today than 20 years ago, it still puts many talented artists with a much smaller budget at a serious disadvantage.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

Yes, I am excited to be featured in RNH Magazine but mainly I’m grateful for the opportunity to be exposed on such a high level. With the millions of artists and business owners out there, I’m thankful that RNH Magazine has me on their radar. #humbled

Crown Black Sounds (Rio Suave and Shawn Tavian) talk music, life, and why their career is #ONTHEVERGE

What is your artist name?

Crown Black Sounds (Rio Suave and Shawn Tavian)

Explain what your name means?

We came up with the name Crown Black Sounds because we want everyone to know that being Black is a privilege! We are the royalty of this world, with the richest skin, and the deepest emotions. We want the music that we create to be able to represent and be relatable to our people. We want to create music for every occasion as well: parties/clubs, riding in the car, at work or school, or even at weddings. Crown Black Sounds! CBS 4 Life! Stay tuned for the hits!!

What city and state are you representing?

Auburn, Alabama

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

We are very versatile in our style and do not wish to be placed in any box. Our main objective is to create good music, no matter the genre. However, if we had to pinpoint one “specialty”, it would be our ability to improvise and create on the fly.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

That’s a tough one….We’d have to say so many the past great artist and groups that came before us such as The Notorius B.I.G., Nas, Rakim, Devin the Dude, Snoop Dogg, Jodeci, and New Edition; but also a lot of new school artist like Kanye, J. Cole, Joey Bada$$, Kendrick Lamar, Jose Guapo, and even Kodak Black. We listen to and draw inspiration from everything, and we wish we could add more people to the list!

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

Rio: As a youth I always struggled with the confidence to let my sound out. I knew it was unique, but i didn’t know how others would take it. I had to learn that I’m doing this for me, though, not for anyone else.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

When I’m in the studio, I totally zone out. The feeling I get is a mix of “Ok this is business that has to be handled” and “I’m really thankful for the chance to be able to let out all these emotions I’ve kept pinned up.” The best feeling though is being able to be proud of something that you created, or contributed to, and having other people like it!

What is the message behind your music?

That really depends on what song you listen to. I’ve struggled with having a relationship with my dad, so that comes out a lot. I think with that my message is, “Don’t let anyone deter you from your dreams, even if it’s someone you love or look up to.” Other types of songs are about relationships, both in positive and negative lights. Then we make songs that are somewhat political and contain our views on certain issues. I think the biggest thing we’d like to stand for is the dichotomy between good and bad. No one is perfect, and just like yin and yang, there is a little bit of bad in every good, and a little bit of good in every bad.

What do you fear the most in this business?

The thing I fear the most is allowing my passion and love for music to overtake everything else in my life. I’m so serious and determined to make it in this industry, and I’ve already noticed changes in my demeanor and actions that support that statement. As of right now everything is positive, but as we rise up in the ranks, I don’t want to become everything I despised from the start.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

With all due respect, HELL YEA!! We always treat every opportunity with the upmost sensitivity and respect, and this is a huge step for us! This is a chance for us to reach people we don’t always normally get to, and possibly increase our fan base! We are very thankful for the opportunity, and hope to get the chance to be featured again later down the line with more added to our story! We make it a point to not burn any bridges and not forget where we came from!
