#YOUNGLITHIPPY talks online music success, musical roots, and more with RNH Mag! #RADIOPUSHERSTV #RESULTSANDNOHYPE

.Young_Lit_Hippy

What is your artist name?

Young Lit Hippy

Explain what your name means?

Young meaning your never to old to be inspired, innovative, and a creator. Lit meaning aware of your purpose, goals, and what mark you want to make in this world. Hippy meaning someone who brings together people through music in a positive way, always feeding off vibes.

What city and state are you representing?

Portland

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

New Age rap mixed with a little bit of an old school flow.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

Honestly the first time I made music was super random. I was 17 and my homie was the one that was making music just for fun and was trying to get me or one of the other homies to hop on a track. I never rapped before that and I wrote out a verse, recorded, and its was awful. lol But at that time I was inspired and felt a some what type of therapy when I wrote, and at the time I thought anything I made was dope. lol (I still do). Now looking back at it though I would never release those tracks. I became addicted to creating music. At first I produced and wrote my own songs but I wanted to focus on writing or producing and try to master my craft in one first. So I chose writing, I wouldn’t say I’m a master but lets just say I started picking up producing again because I now am able to focus on that. Yeah shout out to the homie though, we would freestyle in my car all the time too just to pass time in our life. Where I’m from we kind of live in a bubble. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just different.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

My challenge was finding acceptance from others. The thing was though at the time I was so focused on what other people thought that I didn’t even realize I wasn’t even accepting myself, so how could I feel that other people would accept me. As I’ve went through life I gained self acceptance, which has became one of my most powerful tools when it comes to my art. After that point I was only focused on what I wanted and what was good for me. That’s when I became woke.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

My feelings are everywhere. I’m talking about things that are relevant and going on in my life. It’s real, I have bigger stories behind a lot of the songs I make. Music has become my life, when I’m not making music I’m doing something that is geared towards it.

What is the message behind your music?

The message behind my music is to make people aware of things they maybe have never thought about. Open their conscious and show that anything in life is possible if you really want it enough. What you put in it is what you get out of it and that goes with anything in life. I want to connect with people on a personal level, because I know there has to be a lot of people going through the same struggles as me, and I have a way of taking negative situations and turning them into positive outcomes through my music. The song “Bikinis” in particular is about being woke and knowing what the next move is. Not focused or worried about skeptics and keep pushing forward while thanking those who have helped me become the person I am today.

What do you fear the most in this business?

My fear would be to become nothing more than a product. I realize being a product is a part of it and I understand the industry and there will be opportunities that seem good at the time, but you always have to double check big decisions and not jump desperately at every opportunity. Never sell your soul, that’s probably one of the only things I don’t have for sale.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

I am blessed for the opportunity.

#JIBBATHEGREAT opens up to RNH Mag & talks life, new music, & more! #RESULTSANDNOHYPE #RADIOPUSHERSTV

.JIBBA

What is your artist name?

JIBBA THE GENT

Explain what your name means?

My name started as the nick name “Jibba”. I would be the one rolling up some of mother natures sweet gift and handing them out to friends. Jibba is a slang term for a joint in Vermont, so people started calling me that. Guilty by association I guess… “The Gent” was added on later after seeing the movie Goodfellas. Robert Deniro played Jimmy The Gent, an Irish gangster who made a living off of heist where he would also give some of the loot to the people he robbed. He was pretty generous, I liked that about him. All the murdering he was convicted of I can’t really stand by, so let’s just say I murder mics and stages instead.

What city and state are you representing?

Springfield Vermont

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

Lyrics are very important to me. My style is versatile and my range of topics is very diverse as well. I use punch lines, double-meanings, metaphors and similes often, I try to make sure my listeners have content they need to pay attention to. You should be able to listen to my lyrics over and catch things you might have missed the first few times around. I take pride in that.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

Growing up, I had a quiet love for music watching my Dad perform in local bands and Karaoke contests as well as my sister singing God Bless America and The Star Spangled Banner at many sporting events. I never really thought music was my calling until I heard my first hip hop album Warren G’s G Funk era. I dove quickly into all west coast hip hop. Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Easy E, Kurupt, Nate Dogg, Tupac and various collaborations and groups. I loved what I heard so much I began to mimick their styles and write my own tunes. Eventually I found the East coast rappers, Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Wu-tang and many many more. Plus the south, UGK , Outkast, Field Mob and Nappy Roots were a few of my favorites. As my album collection grew so did my love for everything hip-hop. I immersed myself into a culture that wasn’t present in Vermont. Most people actually didn’t like it in my state, which gave me the drive to prove myself and this music’s greatness. I think I’ve done a good job at changes many peoples perceptions of Hip-hop music.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

I didn’t have a mentor to look up to at all. I didn’t have music studio’s down the street from my home, there wasn’t any successful musicians remotely close to my area willing to help a young kid with dreams. I had to figure it out on my own. From the recording process, to editing, mixing and mastering. Promoting live events and eventually the business end. I never even wanted to know about the business, it seemed like a job I shouldn’t have to do. Eventually I learned, it took a lot of trial and error though.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

The studio is not my favorite place suprisingly. I go for strictly business to record when my songs are finished. I like to be completely alone so I can tap into my truest self. If I get distracted by other’s I usually end up unhappy with my recordings or I try to rush and do not get the best recordings possible. The studio is a work environment for a loner like myself. The stage though is a completely different story…

What is the message behind your music?

I speak for the under dog, the bullied kids, for the dreamers and the hustlers. I speak for the hopeless

What do you fear the most in this business?

Getting taken advantage of by the fakes and snakes out to make a buck. It’s happened to me a few times, it’s wasted time, wasted effort and money. My biggest failure so far was promoting a local hip hop event featuring Cory Gunz of Young Money. He canceled on me 3 hours before the doors opened. He wasn’t anywhere near Vermont at the time, he was still home in NYC. I felt very disrespected and worse off I dissappointed a lot of fans that night. I was fresh off back to back successful shows featuring Black Rob and Bizarre of D12. My promoting was growing and this was my biggest show yet. I never really came back to that same hype after that show. It was very unfortunate.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

I’m most definitely excited to be featured alongside some great independent artists in RNH. I like what you all are doing with the magazine and it’s a well respected brand. I’ve got to shout out and thank Patience Jay for the hook up. Much Love!

WASHY

Explain what your name means?

BRANDON WASHBURN

What city and state are you representing?

Boston, MA

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

Catchy sing along flow accompanied by quick witty lyrics.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

Drake inspired me to pursue a career in music because he showed me how to run it as a business

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

I was always expected to excel in the corporate world, I made an effort to live up to my family, friend’s and mentor’s expectations by becoming the youngest Territory Sales Rep in the Dermatapathology industry. Now I’m making the effort to live up to my own expectations of delivering a message to mass amounts of people in an artistic way.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

Relieved. A lot of the thoughts I have in my head are very relatable to my generation, but are usually too intricate to discuss over everyday conversation. Music gives me a chance to deliver these ideas to my audience which is a great feeling.

What is the message behind your music?

Every song has its own message, but overall I’d have to say the message behind my music is to chase what you love, work hard and be real. We all party, celebrate and enjoy life and I talk about that, but I like to incorporate the idea of chasing a purpose and a reason to celebrate.

What do you fear the most in this business?

Sacrificing my success in the corporate world and not making it in the music world.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

I’m really excited to be promoted in an effective and professional manner. There is so much “noise” out there with a ton of hashtags and in your face promo, I’m honored to be teaming up with an organization that does it right!!!!!!

What is your artist name?

Avalanche The Architect

Explain what your name means?

Avalanche, destroys and The Architect builds, this comes from The Supreme Mathematics Nation of Gods and Earths

What city and state are you representing?

New York

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

Metaphorical and I incorporate the use similes often and well as synonyms as well i use a lot of biblical references at times as well as Greek and Egyptian mythology

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

No one really it has just been something i have always done, my family are church going people so we were all in the choir at some point and I guess it just morphed into me rapping

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

not much as a youth but later in my career i was charged for making a threat through my music during a rap battle, the upsetting part was that it was racially motivated because other nonblack rappers do the same thing and not get charged, my matter made the headlines and was highly covered in the news so some “establishments” didn’t want to book me but on the other hand I got a lot of shows too and more recognition at the time than I could have afforded to pay for lol

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

I imagine I’m at war and I want the listener to feel like they are right next to me so my music comes off as very intense at times and even when I’m not angry some people say it sounds angry so some in the industry called my music “fight music”

What is the message behind your music?

black empowerment this is the theme behind my newest single called “Burn Babylon Burn” aka (Black Lives Matter)

What do you fear the most in this business?

I don’t fear anything in this business but I fear what it is becoming! Hardcore rappers are becoming obsolete and the feminine rapper using auto tune and bragging about being a drug addict is in, this is done by design to emasculate black men, rap music use to be about the alpha male and was ultra-masculine now the guys look like ravers and girls and rap about destroying their communities and encourage the use of drugs that was intended to keep the black race in a fog and not focus on spirtual enlightenment

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

Yes you guys are the premiere source for real hip hop and if you are covering me you guys are clearly tuned in to the heart of the streets! lol
