Q: ARTIST NAME?
Q: Describe your style of Music?
A: Rap, Hip Hop, Rnb, Alternative
Q: Explain what your name means?
A: My real name is “Luis” but I truly feel it doesn’t represent me as an artist so I made an original name for myself which was “LockHeart”. I went for “LockHeart” because it repsernts a lot about my story , through heart break and learning to fight depression along with many losses I came to see I had to put my heart on lock in order to keep chasing my dreams and reach my goals.
Q: What city and state are you representing?
A: New York City aka the big Apple
Q: Describe your style of singing or rapping?
A: My rap style is ultimately unique due to the fact that when I rap it has a mixture of an Eminem feel with a twist of J Cole, however I add a mixture of a new rap feel never heard before to it.
Q: Who inspired you to pursue a music career?
A: Nicki Minaj for one really did contribute to me pursuing this because she’s in her own lane. Nicki has her own style in music and is proud of standing out doing what she does. Along with her I look up to Sia for her song writing skills, I love how Sia can take her damaging moments from the past and turn them into beautiful songs that move your soul. Eminem definitely motivates me because I for one can relate to his story and appearance and I mean , I as LockHeart would not exist if it weren’t for him.
Q: What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music?
A: Growing up in New York City , my family never was the most “richest” or “wealthiest” and getting what I want never came easy. As a kid my family had to travel from shelter to shelter due to the fact that when I was 5 years old, our apartment burnt down. I had no place to call home and traveling between the Bronx, Harlem, China Town in Brooklyn became a situation where I never was able to grow up with a warm, safe, assurance . I grew up in poverty, pain, and problematic living conditions between the ages of 5-8 up until I got to the projects I lived in from the age of 8 until now (17). My main challenge is getting everyone on board with my music or gaining that stronger fan base for my music.
Q: Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?
A: Well, I put the power in my own hands by building a recording studio in my room out of curtains and attached a microphone in the studio. When I record music in my studio I feel alive, I feel unstoppable, I feel like I’m on cloud nine and I’m timeless. It’s honestly the best feeling I experience.
Q: What do you fear the most in this business?
A: I fear that people will never give me the correct attention I deserve or won’t portray me as what I put myself out to be. I know that the press and social media can bend and break image and I want the recognition I deserve. But at the end of the day I have thick skin and talent and that’s soemthing nobody can ever take away from me.
Q: Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?
A: EXCITED?! Look is that even a question ? This is my dream right here . This moment is truly something special honestly! And I thank god for this blessing.
Q: How can people reach you on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook & etc?
A: I’m nothing more than a simple follow and DM away . I mean if I’m not recording a song, or in my blue room drawing then I’m on Instagram or Facebook so I’ll positively answer anyone with questions.
