Explain what your name means?

Jason is my first name. Hence the J. Then Thuro means two things. That I am passionate and thorough with things that I love doing. And it also means even though i’m a cool dude who avoids drama, if you push me you may have a problem. The Thuro part was actually given to me by a childhood friend.

What city and state are you representing?

Brooklyn, NY

Describe your style of singing or rapping?

I would say that I’m a versatile rapper. I have many styles. But, I noticed that a lot of my music is high energy. Maybe you can help me label my style. Lol.
Who inspired you to pursue a music career? I have a few inspirations. This may sound cliche because i’m from Brooklyn. But truth be told, The Notorious Big started my passion to rap. So I would say he’s my first inspiration. After that came Nas, Jay-Z, and Eminem. I used to freestyle off of the top of my head often and one day my best friend Bios said to me ” that’s not a freestyle that’s a written.” When I told him it wasn’t his response was something like this: “Son, if that’s a freestyle you need to write music and pursue a career.” Henceforth the writing and taking the music seriously began. So Bios inspired me to actually pursue the career.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

There were a few. My challenges were I was distracted by being in the streets, and having money to make something happen was a challenge. And then when I got over those two it was and still is at times navigating through the industry. Let’s just say I wasted a lot of money with people who had connections, made promises, and there promises never came true.

Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio?

I feel euphoria when I record in the studio. I feel excited when i’m in the studio because I love creating music and hearing myself after on the tracks once they are done. It’s so amazing to hear what you can do.

What is the message behind your music?

I have many messages. But my main message in my music is do you and elevate to the highest points in life no matter what obstacles come in your way. Whether it be people, finances, etc. You have to live well in life. It’s meant for everybody. You just have to work hard for it. Also I’ve met a lot of snakes in my life and people who hate and talk trash behind your back but wish you well in front your face. So I speak on that also. And last but not least. Lol. I love the ganja. So i do reference smoking the high grades I’ve noticed often in my tracks.

What do you fear the most in this business?

I fear the snakes who prey on independent artist like myself in the business. I’ve met a few and if you don’t have a strong will and don’t start to research and understand the game they can take you for a ride, leave you broke, and quitting. Luckily, they tried but couldn’t stop my stride.

Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?

Do I really have to answer this. Why is this a question? Lol. Of course. I’m more than excited. I’m ecstatic.
