Washington Redskins to experience “intensive audit” of the team name
The NFL group discharged an announcement on Friday (July 3).
The Washington Redskins are moving towards changing their group name. ESPN reports that the group is “likely” to change the name because of “reestablished pressure.”
“Considering ongoing occasions around our nation and input from our locale, the Washington Redskins are declaring the group will experience an intensive survey of the group’s name. This survey formalizes the underlying conversations the group has been having with the alliance lately,” the announcement said. “… We accept this audit can and will be directed considering the wellbeing of all.”
On Thursday (July 2), FedEx, which has naming rights to the arena where the Redskins play, requested that the group change their name, which has been viewed as a racial slur and denounced by Native American gatherings. “We have conveyed to the group in Washington our solicitation that they change the group name,” FedEx said in an announcement.
