Spring has since spoken out about the incident, saying that she was “shocked and hurt” by what happened. Kylah Spring says that she initially tried to reason with Rosing, but that it quickly became clear that there was no reasoning with her. “I just wanted it to stop,” she says. “I didn’t want to fight back because I didn’t want to give her the satisfaction.” Since the incident, Spring says that she has been struggling with anxiety and depression. She is currently on medication for both conditions. she said that she has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and has had to take a leave of absence from school. “I’m not sure when I’ll be able to go back,” Spring said

Kylah Spring added that she is now scared to leave her dorm room and go to class because she doesn’t feel safe on campus. This is just one example of the racism that Black students have to deal with on a daily basis. Unfortunately, incidents like this are all too common in today’s society. It’s time for us to stand up and demand change.

Sophia Rosing was arrested and charged with assault and hate crime enhancement on October 2nd. She is currently out on bond and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on November 6th.
