Having officially returned to the music scene today (May 3), BJ The Chicago Kid released his latest single titled “Forgot Your Name” with Cory Henry providing the vocals. Featuring the talented production of Yeti Beats, the track marks the first single from the duo’s upcoming joint album, which is scheduled to be released later this summer, and this is the first taste of what’s to come. The Chicago singer showcases his storytelling abilities as he imparts a story about a night when he drank a little too much on the song in the form of smooth, heartfelt vocals:
“Writing is one of the ways I try to capture the essence of a moment and then turn it into a story that resonates with the audience,” BJ The Chicago Kid explained in a press release. “My inspiration for this song came from the experience of meeting someone new at a bar, being swept up in the moment, but then realizing that you are not able to remember their name later on. There is a sense of excitement and vulnerability at the same time, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the desire to make connections with people and create memorable experiences that will last a lifetime after the night is over.”
BJ The Chicago Kid most recently recognized for his work on 2021’s Three, a short EP that collected all the releases from the artist’s “BJ Wednesday’s” series of releases. Despite this, he has remained active by providing vocals for a number of collaborations, including “Black Superhero” by Killer Mike, “Slide By” by The WRLDFMS Tony Williams, “Show Her The Way” by Full Crate, “PPL” by DRAM, and more.
