As he did last year, NBA YoungBoy does not intend to waste any time with his preparations for 2023. The Baton Rouge rapper drops off his new single “Next” today (Feb. 27), which features high-pitched harmonies that speak of the street life, the surreal lifestyle and more in the context of life on the streets.
This D-Roc, Lastwordbeats, and ProdByBerge-backed offering is presented with a matching visual that originates from Isaac Garcia and is produced by D-Roc himself. There is no better way to watch NBA YoungBoy in full on rock star mode than to see him with beautiful women, fly threads, and even getting a tattoo mid-performance.
“Next” is scheduled for release on YoungBoy’s forthcoming album Do Not Try This At Home, which will be his second album for Motown Records following the release of I Rest My Case. The rapper, whose song “On My Side” has been featured in Rap Radar’s recent cover story (above), explained in an interview with the publication why he decided to part ways with Atlantic Records after an extensive contract. “You know, I just wanted to try some new stuff, just to try something that I hadn’t tried before,” he remarked. “See whether I could gain more from label situation.”
NBA YoungBoy has released a number of well-received solo works in 2022, including: The Last Slimeto, Colors, Realer 2, 3800 Degrees, Lost Files, and Ma’ I Got A Family. Additionally, he co-produced 3860 and Better Than You with Quando Rondo and DaBaby.
