Conscious rap has existed for some time, but rap is on the verge of a really conscious awakening. What was once about street violence, making bands and bagging babes, is now about third-eye spitting. With that being said, NJ-native Quis Chandla has reached the summit of self-realization, meeting the most hierarchical hip-hop requirements. He’s not only soul searching and rhyming actual rap wisdom, but he’s dedicated his mic to changing the streets.
While his single speaks volumes, so do the visuals. The Jersey-native puts the city on his back with his brand new banger. In doing so, he brings the dirty Jerz out to spotlight and support all of those who have shown support throughout his creatively climbing career. This is because true fulfillment comes from serving others rather than gaining fame and notoriety.
Additionally, the TrueNLivin founder is seen switching scenes posted up in the hood bodega, breaking bread with his homies, all while putting on for his city. With no lies detected, the striving star mentions the money he’s made off of his “Get the streets flooded” and “Get the hood jumpin’” merch in which we see the stans and all of Jersey sporting his attire!

There was a new video released by Stormzy on Thursday (June 22). The visual is for his banging track “Toxic Trait,” a popular song featuring Fredo and with production by Dave. As the South London talent moves through the drill-inspired cut, he takes a moment to admit that he has flaws while reminding listeners how great he is.
Femi Ladi, the director of the video, takes a creative route by showing different variations of Stormzy performing his lyrics in several different ways in order to convey his message. He is eventually able to join his peers after a hilarious therapy session interlude in which he joins his peers. As well as Ivorian Doll and Alison Hammond making appearances throughout the movie, other notable guests can be seen as well.
“Toxic Trait” is Stormzy’s first official release since his third studio album, This Is What I Mean, which dropped in November 2022, a year after his third studio album had made its debut. As a result of this body of work, the album contained 12 tracks and a number of additional features, including Ayra Starr, Sampha, Black Sherif, Ms Banks, Amaarae, and more. There is no doubt that Stormzy’s album is well known for its more experimental content, as most of the tracks included gospel, R&B, along with a variety of other genres, to create the most enjoyable music for listeners. A successful departure with All I Want for My Birthday proved to be one of his most successful albums, as It Is What I Mean both landed him a No. 1 position on the UK Albums Chart for his third consecutive week, as well as earning him a silver certification.
Luh Tyler has been on a roll ever since he released his first episode of the popular TV show “Law & Order” in November. Having just carved out his niche in the hip-hop scene as a very dynamic artist in Tallahassee, it hasn’t been long until he continues to build back up his momentum with viral cuts like “Back Flippin,” “I Got A Dollar,” and “Can’t Move Wrong” featuring Trapland Pat, “A Day In The NOYA” featuring LOE Shimmy and “Hollywood” featuring DTE Lil Dayday.
Continuing his rise to fame, Luh Tyler continued his emergence with a new single “Dennis” on Friday (3rd of February). In the song, the producers include Flex, FOREVEROLLING, and Rizzo. Throughout this song you will find a lot of bars describing how to get money, how to get women, and more, much like previous ones. The lyrics include:
“Dennis” also comes accompanied by a video, which was filmed by CottoOverDidIt and Herve Mompoint, which shows you the making of the video. The video begins with Tyler riding shotgun next to a woman in an old school droptop, then transitions to Luh Tyler riding shotgun with a woman in a convertible. A blend of claymation style effects and real footage is also used so that viewers can see this 16-year-old basketball star performing in MVP mode while an enthusiastic crowd cheers him on while he is on the basketball court.
The following is Tyler’s explanation of his beginnings in the music business, which he gave in an interview with Dirty Glove Bastard (above):
“As I heard my friends talking about it and things like that, I just felt like I had to try it on for myself and that is what I did. At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of her sound. Honestly, I was not a huge fan of her sound as well. To be honest though, I wasn’t overly enamored with what I heard. … I gradually began to take her seriously when I realized that she had become my second mother, and I had to respect her as such.”
Shaquille O’Neal assured the public that he will continue to be pleasant on the mic. It was announced yesterday (May 2) that NBA Hall of Famer KoKo would release his new single, King Talk, which features Blackway. Shaquille O’Neal posted the track to his social media accounts for the first time back in February when he used it as part of an animation video celebrating LeBron’s record-breaking first season as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. The track opens up with Blackway delivering a hard-hitting delivery following his hard-hitting delivery that he lays out:
“KoKo and I have been exchanging beats for a while now and we have been sending each other beats back and forth. I knew I had to seize this opportunity after he played me this song,” Shaquille O’Neal explained via a press release. “There was never going to be a better moment for me to collaborate with Blackway, and this was the right time for it. My favorite part about this record is that I can feel as if I’m walking out for game seven of the NBA finals. Especially for LeBron James, the lyrics of the track and the vibe of the music were perfect for the moment when he broke the NBA scoring record. There was no doubt in my mind that I must share it with the world a king respects a king.”
As it prepares to release his EP later this summer, Ghanaian-American afrobeats and hip hop artist Blackway is steadily working up to the release of his EP. Back in March, he released his first single titled, “Lion”, which is the lead track on the album. Among his most recent projects is the 2020 album New Yhana 2, a project that featured performances from Papi ojo, Busta Rhymes, and more.
Tiwa Savage was one of the artists Tiwa Savage had the pleasure of recruiting to be part of the brand new single “Stamina” she released back in March. Keeping up with the momentum created by her song, the Nigerian singer yesterday (April 12) released the accompanying music video in conjunction with the song. This visually stunning video was directed by Clarence Peters, as the track’s sensual lyrics are enhanced by the use of light, shadows, and nature in ty breathtaking visuals:
It was back in 2020 when Tiwa Savage released her third studio album, Celia, which broke records at the time with 13 songs featuring Hamzaa, Davido, Stefflon Don, Sam Smit, and more. (Remix)” featuring Spyro, and more.
As of 2021, Ayra Starr has only released one full-length album, 19 & Dangerous, with contributions from Fousheé and CKay. It is anticipated that upon the release of the album, she will upgrade the project by adding five additional tracks and by enlisting the contributions of Lojay, Kayykilo, Kelly Rowland, and more.
