Philadelphia’s Lil Uzi Vert is poised to make history as sales projections for his highly anticipated project, “Pink Tape,” surface. Hits Daily Double reports that this genre-bending album is expected to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, potentially securing Lil Uzi Vert the first No. 1 spot in the hip hop category for the year 2023.
Estimates suggest that “Pink Tape” has the potential to achieve a remarkable first-week performance of approximately 160,000 album-equivalent units, surpassing the 15-week chart-topping reign of Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing At A Time.”A No. 1 position for Lil Uzi Vert would mark a significant milestone for the hip hop community.
Released last Friday (June 30), “Pink Tape” showcases Lil Uzi Vert’s artistic versatility across 26 tracks. The album features noteworthy collaborations with Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, and Don Toliver, exemplifying Lil Uzi Vert’s ability to effortlessly merge different musical styles.
The production of “Pink Tape” benefits from the contributions of renowned producers, including Oogie Mane, Arca, BNYX, Cubeatz, Ken Carson, Rick Rubin, Kobametal, Maaly Raw, and more. Their collective expertise adds depth and richness to the album’s sonic landscape.
One of the standout tracks on “Pink Tape” is the 2022 hit single “Just Wanna Rock,” drawing inspiration from Jersey club music. The song gained immense recognition on a global scale, achieving resounding success on various music charts and surpassing the significant milestone of double platinum certification. Its undeniable popularity and widespread appeal resonated with listeners far and wide, solidifying its status as a chart-topper and a commercial powerhouse.
Lil Uzi Vert has recently also made headlines with their decision to change gender pronouns, offering thoughts on bravery within the rap community. They expressed that bravery has a slim chance of survival, emphasizing the importance of creating good product rather than focusing on identity. Lil Uzi Vert further highlighted the influence of gay and trans designers in the fashion industry, noting that their work is embraced by individuals regardless of their backgrounds.
As Lil Uzi Vert prepares to claim the top spot on the Billboard 200 with “Pink Tape,” the anticipation among fans continues to grow. In a surprise announcement today (June 23), Young Thug unveils his latest album, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. On top of those 15 tracks, the album features more than a dozen other features, such as Drake, 21 Savage, Future, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and more. Additionally, Metro Boomin has been credited with the role of executive producer on the project.
“Parade on Cleveland,” the project’s opening song, contains a phone conversation between Drake and the artist responsible for the hit single “Best Friend,” with the latter in high spirits throughout the call. “There’s nothing I’m doing, man; I’m just pushing more Peter, and I’m pushing it much sweeter, much better than any other Peter pusher around, so do you hear me, this is what I’m saying to my Canadian counterpart, you can’t hear me.\
This album lands on the scene during Thugger’s ongoing legal battle – a battle that stems from a RICO charge that Thugger and a handful of other members of the group Young Stoner Life (YSL) have been charged with. There have been some members of this group, including longtime collaborator Gunna, who have since been released following plea deals they made. As of last Friday (16 June), Gunna, who is known for all the words he uses to describe his music, has released his newest project titled A Gift & a Curse, where he provides his perspective on these issues.
While Young Thug has been back in jail for more than a year, he has remained on the radar from a musical perspective despite his time in prison. In the years before Young Thug was introduced to the world of BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, he appeared on popular songs such as Calvin Harris “Potion,” Lil Baby “Never Hating,” Killer Mike “RUN,” G Herbo “Breathe Slow,” Quavo and Takeoff “Chocolate,” and Rae Sremmurd “Royal Flush.” Accordingly, in July 2022, the Atlanta star sent an audio message to HOT 97 during the festival of Summer Jam on.
“I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends and family for coming out and supporting us on this day,” he said. YSL and I are not the only ones affected by this. Throughout my career, I have used music to express myself artistically, and I now realize that Black artists and rappers are not allowed to do so. Everyone is kindly requested to sign the petition in support of Protect Black Art and to continue to pray for us. All of you are dear to me.”

In just a few days (Feb. 3), Jamaican rapper Skillibeng and Florida rapper Nardo Wick teamed up with the aim of releasing a new single titled “16CHOPPA.” The track, in line with the duo’s pasts, is filled with hard-hitting bars discussing both their lifestyles and oft-violent pasts.
This newest release from Skillibeng follows up a December release called I’ll Never Die – The Prodigy Edition, which boasted 10 songs from assorted artists including Kyoka and Rich The Kid. In addition to his recent releases, the star of “Crocodile Teeth” has kept his fans well-fed with his well-received EP Mr. Universe, as well as a series of notable free drops and collaborations, including “blessing me” featuring Mura Masa, “Pree” featuring Popcaan, “Rain” featuring Shenseea, “Whap Whap (Remix)” featuring Fivio Foreign and French Montana, and “More Fire.”
Moreover, in 2022, Nardo also released the deluxe edition of his debut studio album in partnership with Caspian, titled Who Is Nardo Wick? , an album consisting of 31 tracks as well as features from a wide range of artists, including The Kid LAROI, BIG30, 21 Savage, Future, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Latto, and more. Recently, he has collaborated with Babyface Ray, BIG30, and G Herbo in the song FaZe Kaysan “Plenty.”
A short while ago, Skillibeng talked to On The Radar Radio about his status as a musical frontrunner in an interview that I have included above:
“I’m not bragging, but… As of today, it has been over three years since I’ve been dubbed as Jamaica’s most talked about artist both locally and internationally,” he stated. “Since I’ve become the most talked-about artist for a couple of years now, and everybody is dying to know what I’m doing, they’re all asking, so what’s this kid all about?’? Who is Skilled?'”
In addition, he explained, “I think I am the leader of the new generation based on the stats and what the evidence shows. It seems like a lot of my flows have been stolen by others, don’t you think? Some of my techniques that I teach in interviews have been stolen by younger artists, they are stealing my moves, they are doing what I teach them, and that is stealing my talent as well. I am grateful to them.”
