Briefly, Eric Holder, who is accused of killing Nipsey Hussle, was also represented by Christopher Darden.

Christopher Darden, the famous prosecutor who represented O.J. Simpson, will also be representing Corey Walker, one of the accused in the murder investigation of Pop Smoke. Last year, the attorney was briefly in the headlines for representing Eric Holder, the alleged killer of Nipsey Hussle.

On Monday (August 24), Walker and one of his co-defendants appeared attended the pre-trial hearing at the court. After being charged with murder last month, Walker and Rodgers were arrested last month. Jaquan Murphy, another defendant, was not charged with any crime, but was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. In connection with the same case, two unidentified teenage suspects were also arrested and charged with murder and robbery.

Monday’s hearing largely involved debates about whether Rodgers should be tried as a juvenile

Rodgers’ criminal record sheet holds three different dates of birth, and Los Angeles district attorney noted that one of them denotes that at the time of Pop’s death, he would have been a minor. Rodger’s legal counsel was directed to verify his client’s date of birth and Judge Miguel Espinoza sought written proof of the same by Wednesday (Aug. 26).

To ensure Rodger’s safety, authorities may place him in “keep-away” protection during the case.

Legal counsel of Walker, minus Darden, did not file a plea for him on Monday (Aug 24). It is expected that he will plead not guilty at the next preliminary hearing to be held later this week. The suspects are accused of breaking into a Hollywood Hills home rented by Pop, the night of his death. His posts on social media helped them find out where he stayed, according to the Associated Press. Previously, authorities confirmed that several things were stolen from Pop’s home, who was shot during the robbery.

The 20-year-old rapper was rushed to a local hospital shortly after and passed away Police are asking those with any information related to the case to get in touch with the LAPD’s Robbery and Homicide Division or leave an anonymous report with LA Crime Stoppers. Rest in peace, Pop Smoke.

Styles P released his recent solo project In May called ‘Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm,’ which includes 15 different tracks from the Yonkers legend as well as added support from ItsTheReal, Snyp Life, his LOX brothers Jadakiss and Sheek Louch, and more. He reveals a new look this week, from the project assisted by Dyce Payne “Ghost Vibe,” in which Styles was caught wearing his heart on his sleeve over production from Supa Stylez:

The featured visual was created by Streetheat and showcases Styles P and his team who seem to be handling business with a few Chinese associates amid the Coronavirus pandemic, out of which, one person is his New York rhyming partner China Mac. At the end of the clip, it seems as though all is well for all the parties involved in the visual.

Apart from his own releases, Styles P has returned to the fold with his LOX cohorts and are getting ready for the release of their next studio LP Living Off Xperience. The trio have already released the project tracks “Loyalty & Love”, “Gave It To Em” and “Bout S ***” which was assisted by DMX. Even with his fans fed, Styles has prepared a sequel to Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm already, about which he spoke on social media:

Detroit Lions Cancelled Practice to Protest Jacob Blake’s Shooting

“We can’t be silent anymore — nobody can be silent. If you’re being silent, you’re okay with what’s happening,” said Lions safety Duron Harmon.

In response to the horrific shooting of Jacob Blake, the Detroit Lions canceled Tuesday’s practice (August 25). United, the players stood before the training facilities of the team, adjacent to a sign reading: “THE WORLD CAN’T GO ON.”

“While some people think that we’re just football players, this league 67 percent — two-thirds of its players — are African-American,” said Duron Harmon, Lions safety, according to FOX 2 Detroit. “Jacob Blake could have been anybody’s brother, cousin, uncle, friend. Could have been them. And it wasn’t OK.”

Later, Harmon spoke about the incident during a virtual media session. “This organization is going to make sure we speak out on it,” he said. “We can’t be silent anymore — nobody can be silent. If you’re being silent, you’re okay with what’s happening.”

Blake, is a 29-year-old Black man who was shot several times on Sunday (August 23), by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A clip of the incident became viral on social media as people saw Blake being shot while his children witnessed the tragedy from inside a vehicle.

As the investigation goes on, the police officers who participated in the shooting were placed on administrative leave. It was revealed by Blake’s father on Tuesday, that his son became paralyzed from the waist down after the shooting. Doctors are unsure if his paralysis is permanent.

Matthew Stafford, Lions quarterback, revealed that their team meeting on Tuesday did not include soccer as a topic of discussion. He also divulged that coach Matt Patricia provided a platform for players to discuss the incident.

“Football is the last thing on our mind at the moment, to be honest with you,” Stafford said, according to The Detroit News. “The biggest thing for us was, how do we get our voices heard? We have a lot of guys in this locker room with a lot to say and a lot of guys that are extremely smart and talented speakers and understand so much of what’s going on.”

He added, “It’s the first time that we’ve all been in the same room to talk about it and had the ability to see each other’s faces … and just feel that. Obviously, it’s something that continues to happen. And the level of frustration and anger is palpable.”

On August 23, Vanessa Bryant celebrated what would have been her late husband Kobe Bryant’s 42nd birthday.

“To my baby ~ Happy birthday. I love you and I miss you more than I can explain,” she wrote in an Instagram post dedicated to him. “I wish you and Gigi were here to celebrate! I wish I could make you your favorite food or a birthday cake with my Gigi. “

Gianna, or Gigi, as she is affectionately called by her family, was killed with Kobe in the January 26 helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, which also claimed the lives of many other people.

“I wish I could wake up from this horrible nightmare,” she further added. “I wish I could surprise our girls and welcome you and Gigi home to us. I’m mad I didn’t go first. I always wanted to go first so that I selfishly didn’t have to feel this heartache. You were supposed to miss me. Gigi was supposed to be here with her sisters. It should’ve been me.”

Kobe and Vanessa, who were married for two decades had four daughters together – Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, Capri, 14 months, and Gianna, 13 years old.

On Instagram, Natalia also remembered her father’s special day with some touching words.

“Happy Birthday Dad I miss your smile, laugh and big bear hugs,” her Instagram caption read. “Happy Birthday to the best movie buddy I could have ever asked for. I will always remember our late night drives to the movie theater with the windows rolled down and listening to our favorite songs. I love you forever and always. Always, Slim.”

Orange County and Los Angeles officially celebrated August 24, also known as “Mamba Day,” as “Kobe Bryant Day” this year, to celebrate the iconic basketball player. The day, which was the 24th day of the 8th month, represents the two jersey numbers he donned as the Los Angeles Laker, 8 and 24, during his two-decade career.
