The Shellers: Painting a New Landscape in Club Music

The Shellers: Painting a New Landscape in Club Music

The UK-based dynamo, The Shellers, a creative fusion of producer Lawaun Bernard and vocalist Jamal Bucanon, have astounded the music world with their debut Extended Play (EP) christened ‘Long Live The Shellers’.

The Shellers: A Sonic Blend of Eclectic Influences

This dynamic duo takes inspiration from a diverse range of musical styles, including grime, garage culture, and more. Their sonic palette extends beyond these genres, with influences from the likes of the animated virtual band Gorillaz, the soulful Amy Winehouse, and the critically acclaimed hip-hop artist, Kendrick Lamar. Their musical tastes and influences, while broad, are cleverly interwoven, resulting in a unique sound that leaves a lasting impression.

Echoes of the Streets

In their music, there are occasional hints of The Streets, particularly in Jamal’s candid tale of contending with the daily grind, vividly depicted in the track ‘Work No More’. This narrative, while rooted in club culture, is not without its darker tones, setting The Shellers apart from their contemporaries.

A Collaborative Effort

While The Shellers essentially comprises Bernard and Bucanon, the EP is not without its supporting cast. Toddla T, renowned for his expertise in sound system culture, dons the hat of executive producer, lending his skills to this project. To further enhance their sound, The Shellers have roped in a full-fledged live band, adding a rich layer of strings, brass, and percussion.

“Working with The Shellers was a joy. We share a lot of musical influences, and it pushed me further. From not only an art point of view but from a friendship point of view, it was all rewarding.” – Toddla T

This collaboration has been a journey of mutual growth and exploration for both parties involved.

Conclusion

With their debut EP, Long Live The Shellers, the duo has successfully blurred the lines in club music, establishing their unique sound in an increasingly homogenous landscape. Their story is a testament to the power of collaboration and the limitless potential of creative exploration.

There is a new EP out from Mozzy called ‘KOLLECT KALL’

There is a new EP out from Mozzy called ‘KOLLECT KALL’

According to our latest information, CMG (Collective Music Group) is still in the process of taking over the label. Despite his incarceration, Mozzy would not let his incarceration hold him back from seeing the light of day when the second quarter of 2023 comes around. As a rapper, Mozzy has always been a menace, but after Kendrick Lamar gave him an award at the 60th Grammy Awards, Mozzy started putting a whole lot of pressure on him to make a good rap song.

Over the course of more than a decade, the Sacramento rapper has consistently released hot singles. Whether you believe it or not, many people would say that he is among the hardest west coast artists to ever come out of the region. Despite some of his music being overlooked by some to an extent, he will never let that stop him from making quality street music each and every time he performs. As of today (Apr. 7), KOLLECT KALL is out for all to hear.

With KOLLECT KALL, Mozzy releases his 21st EP and the follow-up to last year’s Survivor’s Guilt. After turning himself in to the feds to serve a one year sentence in 2022, the CMG rapper found himself at a crossroads of his career. His plea to a charge of possessing a firearm by a felon convicted of a felony was accepted by the court. As Mozzy began his sentence last July, it is now just a few months before his official return to the United States.

In spite of the fact that it is likely that we will have to wait quite some time before we hear Mozzy’s next full length project, he has delivered fans this new EP to hold them over until then. It was revealed that he was working on the project ahead of the release of his latest single, “Free All The Lifers” which was released alongside a brief trailer that included a phone call from the singer.

The Florida rapper, Kodak Black, released an impressive new track yesterday (Jan. 22) called “Maui Woop,” which is produced by Dyryk and sees the rapper taking a moment to reflect on his life and losses.

In addition to the track, Maui Woop also includes a matching video produced by Cameraman Chris. Kodak Black can be seen entertaining his viewers with a drink on the balcony. He also takes part in water activities, having fun with his kids, and more in the Aloha state. Aside from that, he is seen wearing high-end furs in an unknown setting with his crew of friends.

Kodak Black recently dropped a new album on the heels of his last effort, Kutthroat Bill: Vol 1, which came out last year. The record also included collaborations with the likes of Prince Swanny, NFL Tuewop, VVSNCE, and Lil Crix. Further to this, 2022 was a year in which the 19-track collection Back for Everything was released. There was no doubt that that album would be dominated by the smash hit “Super Gremlin,” a song with an emotional impact that was first released in 2021. In addition to earning a platinum certification on those two singles, they also reached the third spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. A prominent part of the album features a guest appearance from Sniper Gang’s frontman on Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed fifth album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, released on March 29, 2015. The album set a new standard for hip-hop with its own instrumentals and lyrics. During the week ending January 16, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers had the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
