On December 20th, Lord Francis released his new single, âDown,â a melodic effort, created under the production of Too Tall, who is known for his past work with the likes of Shy Glizzy, Rick Ross, and Ace Hood. This dancehall-influenced track is centered around a sexual rendezvous between two lovers and it’s infectious and upbeat.
In addition to the single, Lord Francis and his team worked with Malcolm Cook, Jon Brooks, and Ramses Villalva Designs to create the matching visual accompanied by the single. This clip shows the D.C. talent’s interaction with a woman in a bar before he heads out for a wild night out with his friends. While watching the film, viewers will be able to observe Francis and his love interest engaging in an intimate moment on the beach.
In March of this year, Lord Francis joined the masses with what was dubbed Nocturnal, a six-song EP that delved into the love life of the artist that included the popular singles âChampagne Waupâ and âLong Day.â Scattered across the internet, the mysterious artist has stayed off the radar since then. Earlier this year, he announced the return of his music career with a song called “U Street” which pays homage to one of the city’s former nightlife and cultural hubs. His momentum would continue to build with the release of “Growing Man,” another Too Tall-backed production, in which he reflected upon one of his former flames while creating a comparison between his own life and the life of his grandfather.
As you may recall, Jessie Reyez released YESSIE back in September. It is a collection of 11 songs w/ a single guest appearance from 6LACK on âFOREVER.â During the past few days, the Toronto-born singer has been sharing the official music video for the recently released track. Featuring Reyez performing over Pomo’s production, the new visual was directed by Dane Collison, showing the duo spending some quality time outdoors as they sing over the beat.
The previous full-length release from Jessie Reyez was the year 2020âs BEFORE LOVE CAME TO KILL US. The 14 tracks that made up that project included features from Eminem and 6LACK, as well as some original material. Approximately one month after “Promises” was released, Jessie Reyez would follow up with an official deluxe edition of the album, incorporating three new songs and featuring collaborations with Rico Nasty, Melii, JID, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Aside from her own music, Jessie Reyez has been featured on a number of recent tracks including âmore than i shouldâ with Kehlani and âCourtsideâ with DVSN.
Over the course of 2022, 6LACK has contributed guest verses on a number of other collaborations, including most recently, âTell Me Itâs Overâ featuring Jacquees âHold Meâ featuring Rema, âNothing Moreâ featuring Calvin Harris, âAinât No Wayâ featuring Denzel Curry.
This weekend, Jacquees released his new album, Sincerely For You, which was the most anticipated album of the year. Future executive produced the project, which serves as his third full-length studio LP and aims to be a milestone in the artist’s career. In total, 17 tracks appear on Sincerely For You, including contributions from Dreezy, Summer Walker, Future, 6LACK, John P. Kee, 21 Savage, and others. As part of the album release, a live performance of the Atlanta artist’s song “When You Bad Like That” was performed. This song sees the Atlanta artist singing about catering to the love interest of his life, with lyrics such as:
In the past year, Jacquees released the Exit 68 mixtape for his fans. A total of 16 tracks were included on this project, with Trey Songz and FYB providing assistance. It was followed by his previous full-length album, King of R&B, which included 18 tracks and was accompanied by appearances by Lil Keed, Tory Lanez, Quavo, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Gunna, Summer Walker, T.I., Lil Gotit, and more.
According to the “Fact Or Fiction” singer, Future and Jacquees have a positive working relationship, which is why Future is the right choice to produce Sincerely For You, as he previously explained in an interview. âI have always looked up to Future as being like a big brother to me, and he has consistently been a person who has supported me. Our roots are on the east side of Atlanta. I have always had the support of the Future behind the scenes, but now it’s time to make sure it’s brought into the spotlight for everyone to see. “He always tells me it is the right time for me to be up here, and he is always willing to support me,” he stated.
On Friday, the 18th of December, Argentina took home the victory against France in the final of the 2022 World Cup. There may have been more than one reason why the South American team triumphed over the European team, but there was still plenty to be happy about, including Lil Baby releasing his latest music video for the occasion.
The visuals for the video were created by Canadian-born filmmaker Director X, who sends Baby into FIFA World Cup stadiums throughout the clip. As the 28-year-old artist Lil Baby pauses in the music video to speak with Brazilian musician Papatinho and Argentine rapper Paulo Londra, the video portrays several scenes of their interactions. As part of the project, the “Drip Too Hard” hitmaker tried his hand at mingling with other international musicians, producers, and DJs from around the world. â I am proud to share my official music video for my song ‘The World Is Yours To Take’ with you!
âWith this video, Budweiser will be closing out the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a bang, and Baby is excited to play a key role in making history with this video,â Baby said in a statement released in conjunction with the release of the video. âWe’re celebrating what it means to bring the world together as we work with Director X and the talented people from around the globe to bring people together to chase their dreams together, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work on this project,â he said.
In honor of the holiday season, Little Simz is releasing her newest release, NO THANK YOU, a collection of ten songs that arrives just a week after the rapper made a surprise announcement about her forthcoming album. Production on the album is handled by Inflo, with three of the tracks featuring Cleo Sol, a previous collaborator.
As the album opens with the track “Angel,” the London emcee Little Simz rages against a machine that does not care about her well-being; she proclaims:
NO THANK YOU was released just over a year after the release of Sometimes I Might Be an Introvert. This 19-track release made its debut on the UK Albums chart back in October as well as reaching the No. 4 positions on the album chart. It later won the highly coveted Mercury Prize for Best Album.
Outside of what he has done in the music industry, Little Simz has continued to make waves in the acting world as well. She served as a guest star in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and took on a much more significant role in Netflix’s series Top Boy, in which she played Shelley in a much larger role. Harper’s Bazaar recently interviewed the critically acclaimed actress, who opened up about the importance of ‘Molly’ as she discussed it in their interview about the show’s upcoming final season, which will take place in the spring:
âTo be a part of a cast that has contributed so much to the TV and film worlds is something that is unheard of in our lifetime, and I am honored to be a part of something that is truly extraordinary. Also, what it stands for, bringing to light the stories of people that often are not told and heard; I think thatâs really meaningful.”
