With the increased demand for podcasts, indie podcasters have been experiencing a boom in subscribers and listeners! The rise of mobile casting, which allows consumers to listen to a podcast on their smartphones, has dramatically helped the podcaster community.

Introduction to digital podcasting

Digital podcasting may seem fairly new, but it has been around for a while. Podcasts can be heard through their website or at any number of other outlets such as YouTube and the iTunes store. Although digital media is anything but new, the latest technologies have allowed podcasting to grow and change at a fast pace. Research has shown that there is over $6 billion worth of potential revenue in mobile podcasting alone.

Benefits of digital podcasting

Digital podcasting users across the world are routinely producing live & pre-recorded audio content for their audiences without ever leaving home or having to set foot in the studio. The potential reach of the podcast attracts all types of interests from students, parents, entrepreneurs, travelers, etc. Podcasting is open to anybody with microphones equipped with a pocket-sized recording device that enhances creativity to delve into other genres & work at any time & anywhere.

Podcasting is used as a mega-tool for reaching listeners and getting them to join your tribe. Podcasting is one of the fastest-growing and changing media formats. Suppose you’re looking for a way to introduce new content into your audience or serve as an experiential opportunist to gather leads and other types of prospects. In that case, there’s really no better place to be than podcasting.

When compared with last year, the number of podcasts people listen to has increased by almost 45%. You’ll need a knack for writing and or speech, cutting out those witty sayings like “here’s our show,” etc.

How to start a podcast

Many podcasters use mobile devices to create podcasts, but you do need equipment to start a business podcast. You can use your computer, tablet, or phone for this process. However, a microphone is required, which allows you to record an original podcast that other podcasters can then download.

The clarity of the sound will depend on the device you choose. One primary piece of equipment that is typically needed to produce a podcast is a microphone. This piece of equipment can be used with voice or voice-over recordings.

An external audio recorder may be less costly for smaller audio recording spaces because soundproofing and audio readers are not required. Podcasts have skyrocketed in popularity. In 2005, there were fewer than 100 podcasts. In 2018, just ten years later, there were over 70 million. The number of people listening to more than eight hours of content weekly is up from 18% to 38%.

Helpful resources for transitioning from paper publishing to the Internet

With its ease of use and convenience, mobile-friendly podcasting is quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of entertainment. Podcasts are being released on devices, including smart speakers, PCs/Macs/Laptops, cell phones, and smartphones.

However, knowing where to start can be tricky. Helpful resources for transitioning from paper publishing to the Internet such as podcasting tool Audacity (Audacity website) and SoundCloud (SoundCloud website) can be found through a search online or at their Facebook Page, both of which hold valuable information to help you smoothly transition into this new world.
