Tyre Nichols, a 27-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Memphis police on Jan 7, 2023. After Nichols was beaten by five officers during a traffic stop that turned violent, he was left bloodied and injured. Sadly, he passed away three days later.
As emergency medical technicians, our first instinct is to rush in and help those in need. But what happens when police officers stand in the way of us doing our job? That’s exactly what happened to one ex-Memphis EMT who claims he was prevented from helping Tyre Nichols – a tragic case that raises serious questions about how law enforcement and emergency responders can work together more effectively.
The shooting sparked outrage and protests in Memphis, with many claiming that police could have saved Nichols’s life if they had provided medical assistance. However, the police department claimed that they did everything they could to save his life.
“There is an MPD officer leaning over the patient, shouting loudly that the patient will not be moving anywhere, and that they will not be uncuffing him, ”Robert Long said claiming it is impeding the treatment of the patient. According to him, he also informed the board that he had assessed Nichols at the time of his arrival. As he examined the 29-year-old, he noted that he had a broken lip, a bump on his head, as well as a dried bloody nose that was bleeding. According to the Sacramento native, when he asked him what happened and to what he had responded, the Sacramento native replied, “I want to stand up and be uncuffed.”
According to Long, he and other EMTs were prevented from rendering aid to Nichols by police officers who arrived on the scene. He claims that the officers were more concerned with preserving evidence than they were with saving Nichols’ life. As a result, Nichols bled to death while waiting for an ambulance that never came.
In the wake of Long’s allegations, many people have come forward to support him and speak out against the Memphis Police Department. Nichols’ family has also spoken out, saying that they believe Long and that the police department is at fault.
Robert Long ‘s claims have sparked a lot of controversy, with many people taking to social media to voice their opinions. Some people believe that Long is telling the truth and that the police department is in the wrong, while others think that he is making false accusations.
Long’s testimony is significant because it provides a first-hand account of the events that transpired on the night that Tyre Nichols was killed. His testimony also highlights the systemic problems within the EMS community that need to be addressed.

King’s Disease III was Nas and Hit-Boy’s fourth album together, released in November, 2022. Today (Mar. 1), fans can watch a new visual from that project entitled “30,” which is an homage to Nas’ long and successful career. In addition, the song suggests another rapper-producer album, which their fans have eagerly anticipated since the pair’s first collaboration in 2010.
Nas performs in the video for “30“, a black-and-white clip produced by Sarah McColgan, as various aspects of his rhymes come to life in an almost surreal manner. As you look at the video, it almost reminds you of one created to accompany Big Sean’s classic song, “Blessings.”
It was in 2020 that Nas and Hit-Boy first met, and together, they released King’s Disease, an album that peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured contributions from many artists such as Fivio Foreign, Don Toliver, Big Sean, Anderson .Paak, Lil Durk, and more. A year after King’s Disease 2, which was critically acclaimed, they returned with the critically acclaimed sequel, complete with contributions from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, YG, Eminem, Lauryn Hill, and Blxst.
Nas’ latest album, “Suburbanly Proud”, landed at No. 3 on the aforementioned chart, making it the artist’s highest-charting release in over a decade. The nine-song Magic album was released just before the year came to an end, and everyone was surprised by it. In collaboration with the bicoastal duo with whom they published the aforementioned series previously, a new chapter of the series has already been planned.

In the beginning of this month, RAYE showcased her long-awaited debut album, My 21st Century Blues, to the world for the first time. As a result of the project, the London-bred hitmaker became the first artist to put out her own work independently after releasing a body of work in the past few years. As part of the executive production of My 21st Century Blues, frequent collaborator Mike Sabath contributed two features over the 15 total tracks of the album, both of which were from Mahalia and 070 Shake.
In this latest offering from the project, RAYE, who is just 25 years old, returns with the official music video for the recently released single, “Ice Cream Man.” Directed by the artist himself, the video bravely tackles a traumatic experience that RAYE himself has been through. She describes the events of her experience in such a detail in the song that we get a watch-by-watch account of what transpired:
“I did not tell anyone about my experience of sexual assault and rape when I went through these situations,” the songstress explained in a press release regarding the purpose of the song. It has been reported that one in four people suffer from sexual assault at some point in their lives. At least 25 percent of those of you who are reading this article are probably in that category. There is no doubt that there is a greater power in the darkness of the night than there is in the light of the day. I would like to encourage everyone not to bury anything deep down inside us for the rest of our lives. My best wishes to you, RAYE.”
There are other collaborations the “Black Mascara.” singer can be heard on besides her own releases if you take a look at her recent collaborations such as “You Can’t Change Me” performed with “WYS” recorded with Tion Wayne, David Guetta, “Midnight Strikes” recorded with Amorphous, “I Don’t Want You” performed with Riton, “Go Girl” recorded with Miraa May, “Waterfall” performed with Disclosure, and others.
