A new EP by DaBaby, entitled CALL DA FIREMAN, was released on Friday (May 5). There were three songs on the album and Offset featured on one of them. DaBaby had the honour of bringing the album to the masses. Earlier this week (May 8), the North Carolinian singer released a visual for one of the songs from that same project, “Shake Sumn,” a song that plays in a similar vein to Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” both in terms of the short song structure and its high-energy subject matter, which represent a similar style of music.
The accompanying clip to this Charlie Heat-produced offering is directed by Reel Goats and begins with a humorous skit by the artist Funny Marco, who plays a young fool in the clip. In a later episode, DaBaby dons a fireman’s outfit and engages in a series of synchronized dance sessions inside a warehouse, accompanied by a bunch of fellow dancers. Aside from watching the performance live, viewers are also given the chance to see some behind-the-scenes action afterward.
In a major way, CALL DA FIREMAN is a sequel to a movie release from 2019 called, Baby On Baby. The second installment of Baby On Baby contained a total of 14 dope cuts that included a notable appearance by Anthony Hamilton. As part of the same year, he released one of the most notable albums of the year, BETTER THAN YOU which featured YoungBoy Never Broke Again as well as a number of loose tracks including “SHOWING OFF HER BODY” featuring Davido, “WIG” featuring Moneybagg Yo, “BONNET” featuring Pooh Shiesty, “WAITRESS,” and “TOUGH SKIN.”
There have been a number of singles from DaBaby over the past few months, tying together a string of releases that seem like he’s building towards a new album. Among these drops are “YEA COME ON,” “THEY JUST WANT YOUR LIFE,” and “JOC IN ’06” And today (March 15), he has added to that collection with “BLANK,” which is a laid-back offering with an appearance from Anthony Hamilton, who brings the truth about a rumored relationship to the table.
A new video for Reel Goats’ “BLANK” was directed by James Rico and features the video’s adulterous subject matter brought to life by Rico’s brilliant direction. There is a shot that shows DaBaby with his lover in the lavish residence in which they reside. In the end, Hamilton is armed with a gun in hand, making a reference to Ronald Isley’s legendary performance in the film Mr. Biggs, a film in which a disloyal spouse wrongly mistreats a man. Quite simply, viewers will want to watch this film until the very end, no matter how deadly it might be.
There was a lot going on for DaBaby in the year 2022, which began with the joint project he did with YoungBoy Never Broke Again entitled BETTER THAN YOU. This project was a hit on the Billboard 200 chart as well as the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Charts, where it reached No. 10 and 7 respectively. Recently, a 21-year-old woman- Tityana Coppage- managed to find her younger brother’s supposed murderer and shot him to death. Many outkets have reported that Jason Ugwuh was killed on January 10th by a man. Tityana admitted that she shot bullets into the vehicle of the accused and is now being held on $200,000 bail. 42 Dugg and DaBaby offered to pay this money.
