The best-selling album in the country is Young Thug’s Punk. MRC Data reports that Thugger’s second solo studio album lands at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart following a week-ending sales of 90,000 album equivalents. In Billboard’s assessment, this is Thug’s third No. 1 album. As part of his first week of release, So Much Fun and Slime Language 2 both reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while simultaneously reaching the top music downloads.
102 million on-demand streams and 1,000 track equivalent albums have been accessed by Thug. In terms of album equivalent units, Punk won with 90,000 over Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, which slipped to No. 2 after earning 83,000.As of this writing, CLB has spent four nonconsecutive weeks at the top of the charts, the most that a hip hop album has spent on top this year.
Numbers don’t lie with Young Thug
In terms of music equivalent units, Mac Miller’s Faces mixtape debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart. Streaming services re-released Faces in October, which was originally released in 2014. In an odd twist of fate, Mac Miller and Drake are both featured on Young Thug’s “Punk” project. There are multiple contributions by Drake on his album and he showcases the talent on “Bubbly” with Travis Scott, and Mac makes appearances on “Day Before.” Thugger admitted last week that he spent time in the studio with Mac – in 2018 – the day before he overdosed on pills. Young Thug’s career is decorated with rewards and critical acclaim.
Dame Dash can tell his love story how he wants, in his new reality series.
A show named “In Love For A Living” is airing on the network.
Hip hop mogul Damon Dash will produce a reality series of his own. “In Love For A Living” places the Dash family on a global television platform.
It will take viewers into the Dame Dash home where they juggle parenting with running Damon Dash Studios (DDS) and managing other business ventures. Horne’s experiences with in vitro fertilization (IVF) will be discussed, as well as Dash’s health challenges.
Several of my shows have aired. Because the Narrator portrays me and our relationship in such a horrific way, I wanted to show what an amazing relationship is instead of focusing solely on the trauma and the dysfunction of our culture,” Dame Dash told Deadline. “I wanted to show how people can thrive in their relationships.”
Dash went on to explain, “‘In Love for a Living’ is kind of a love story about Raquel and me and all the trials that we go through together. It’s also sort of educational,” he explained. “We have covered a variety of topics that pertain to getting pregnant, IVF, and after having your baby, raising that child, or at least what we have been doing for him, as we have been shaping a curriculum based on these principles for him.”
It stands to reason that, as the owner of a television network and a streaming service, Dash would make his own shows.

Verdell Smith better known as Dell-P, recently hosted a listening party for his latest release “We Owe The World”. 17 undeniable records that are playable at anytime of the day and of course for any age group. Due to his top tier vocabulary Dell-P is able to refrain from using profanity and still deliver the pain and feeling. Most underground artist struggle to project their message and reach the masses due algorithms and music bans outside of the country. As American artist we often are not in tune with the rules and regulations other countries apply to music where the true emcee Dell-P has no fault. The humbled spitta’ has not only continued to deliver new stories, instill more morals and paint more pictures, he was able to collaborate with some like minded souls to deliver classics.
“Here For It” featuring Wil Guice has the award winning sound Philadelphia is known for. Incorporating the soul and Hip-hop with a message to uplift, you can’t be more Brotherly Love than that. Then following with a vibe that takes me back to Wu-Tang, Mos Def, Talib Kweli vibes with “Get Busy on Em” featuring Teef. The simple but catchy instrumental that puts you on a New York Subway, then the bars that blend that make you feel like you got off on some hundred and Lennox ave. Dell-P hands down has Hip-hop mastered and if the fore fathers were looking to pass the torch bring it back to Philly.
“Karma” one of my favorite records on the project for sure. The story telling ability he has is unflawed and has me anticipating the visual production. I see this being one of the stand out records that really capture the mind, ears and hearts of the people. With features from Trazsh Man, Wil Guice, Teef, Tracey Lee, MC Knowledge, Jay Reezy, Zone Boy Mir, 4evertaylormade and Wise intelligent made for a great collective of outstanding music.
PhiladelphiaWeekly.com mentioned Dell-P as one of “Hip-hop’s best kept secrets” and I think it’s time to tell all. Already, Dell-P is the 2017 Philly Hip Hop Awards Album of the Year Award winner, the 2017 PHL Live Hip Hop Artist Of The Year, a 2017 Black Gala Award winner, a 2017 Black Power Music Award nominee, a 2018 dual Spiral Award winner (Album Of The Year and Artist Of The Year), the 2020 Spiral Award winner (Artist Of The Year), and 2020 Indie Music Award winner for Album Of The Year and Single Of The Year. He’s also been named one of hip-hop’s Hottest Independent Artists of 2020 by Source Magazine. In addition, he’s been co-signed by hip-hop legends such as Chuck D, Black Thought, Wise Intelligent, Arrested Development, EPMD, Wyclef Jean, David Banner, Jay Electronica and more.
He’s been considered seven times for a Grammy – including three for Best Rap Album and once for Best Rap and Song Performance. Don’t sleep on the future of Hip-hop support Dell-P.
Due to the ‘Reasonable Doubt’ NFT, Roc-A-Fella sued Dame Dash.
There may be disappointment among Roc-a-Fella Records fans who hoped for a proper reunion.
An ex-label of hip hop mogul Damon Dash has filed a lawsuit against him.
With DASH, a non-fungible token (NFT), JAY Reasonable Doubt’s album was offered for sale. According to the outlet, Alex Spiro, Hov’s attorney, filed the lawsuit Friday (June 18) in the Southern District Court of New York.
As detailed in the documents, Spiro asserts, “Dame Dash planned on selling … the copyright to JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt, one of the greatest recordings ever made. Dash is frantically looking for another venue through which to sell these items… Currently, Dash is stealing a valuable resource and must be held accountable for doing so.”
In addition, Dame Dash is accused of converting a corporate asset and breaching his fiduciary duty by attempting to sell it. He should be held accountable for his stealthy conduct by the courts.
As mentioned above, Dame Dash owns and operates his own streaming service, titled Dame Dash Studios. Reasonable Doubt was supposed to be auctioned on the NFT marketplace SuperFarm, but the NFT listing was canceled after Spiro contacted SuperFarm.
Taking this to a new level, the NFT finally grants the winner the right to sell the song in future. The minted NFT is proof that the album was sold, transferring the copyright to the winner.”
He does not own any rights to Roc-A-Fella, so he cannot sell the rights to Reasonable Doubt, despite being a 33% stakeholder in the company.
It is possible fans may be disappointed by the news of a Roc-A-Fella Records reunion. They have not yet addressed the matter publicly.
