Earlier this year, Nafe Smallz released Legacy, a 16-song collection that features Unknown T, Young T & Bugsey, Lil Tjay, and D-Block Europe. Upon its release, the album reached number one on the UK’s Official Hip Hop and R&B Albums chart after its initial week of release. Nafe’s relationship with drugs and women is the subject of a new video he released last night (June 24) from his new album, “Moonlight” produced by John Luther and SharkShiesty:
In the accompanying clip, Young Kye & Craig Capone alternate between shots of Nafe Smallz and the woman he is in love with at separate residences. Both spend time with one another at different locations throughout their relationship.
Overnight, released in 2021, consisted of two songs to hold fans over until a new project could be announced. As part of his previous trapwave project, he teamed up with fellow trapwave peer M Huncho to produce DNA, which included 12 tracks and was assisted by Yxng Bane and Young Adz. In addition to being a top ten album on the Official Albums chart, DNA ranked first on the aforementioned chart.
French Montana fans can rejoice. This week, Bronx rapper Harry Fraud announced that he and he will once again join forces on an album titled Montega. The album will arrive on June 24. Fans can get a first look at French’s upcoming project today (June 10) via a new song called “Drive By,” which features Detroiter Babyface Ray. In essence, both artists have no problem letting their listeners know how much they have won to date:
French Montana’s single “Drive By” follows closely on the heels of his previous single “Alcatraz,” another hard-hitting record that is slated to appear on his fifth studio album Mac & Cheese. It came two years after he released his fourth studio album, They Got Amnesia, which featured guest appearances from Doja Cat, Kodak Black, Rick Ross, Pop Smoke, Lil Durk, Saweetie, Fabolous, Fivio Foreign, John Legend, and more.
As a featured artist, French Montana continues to maintain his position as one of hip hop’s hottest commodities outside of his own work. Additionally to his involvement in National Champions (“If I Go Down”), French has been featured on songs such as El Alfa “Máquina de Dinero,” AB “Pit Not the Palace (Remix),” DreamDoll “Ice Cream Dream,” and Skillibeng “Whap Whap (Remix).” Given French’s track record, it’s a safe bet that many of these artists will return the favor with his upcoming release.
On May 27, Nafe Smallz will release his latest album, Legacy. The record consists of 16 songs with featured artists including Lil Tjay, Unknown T, Young T & Bugsey, and D-Block Europe. During the lead up to the release, fans received a preview of the video for “Off The Rip,” a MoneyEvery and Cage Beats production, which features Luton’s emcee delivering some of his most boastful bars yet:
Presented by Young Kye and Capone, “Off The Rip” provides the most fitting complement to the track’s vibe, featuring images of Nafe Smallz living the high life. You can watch him ride around in a high-end whip, enjoy the company of stylish women, hang out with his crew, and record his music in the studio.
Legacy follows Nafe Smallz’s 2020 album DNA, which he released with M Huncho. There were thirteen infectious tracks in that project featuring Young Adz and Yxng Bane. The British duo scored high with DNA, which finished at number six on the UK Albums chart, as well as number two on the R&B Albums chart. Meanwhile, Nafe released the solo album Goat World in 2010, which featured contributions from Nines, Huncho, Chip, Young Adz, Wretch 32, Miraa May, and more.
Nafe responded to critics who believe he’s just mimicking typical American hip hop sounds in a past interview with High Snobiety:
“This is the kind of style I’m aiming for.” To me, it seems universally understood rather than just in our culture. But the culture is still intact, don’t get it twisted. My upbringing was filled with a variety of music. I did not only listen to American music, but also old music.”
During the past two years, Southside has teamed up with Doe Boy for the highly acclaimed Demons R Us, featuring additional collaborations with Swae Lee, Trippie Redd, Lil Uzi Vert, Chief Keef, 42 Dugg, and more. In the years since then, he has remained a top producer of hip hop, lending his skills to projects like King Combs “Holdin Me Down,” ),” G Herbo “Statement,” Lil Wayne “These Hoes,” Gucci Mane “Rich Nigga Shit,” EST Gee “Capitol 1,” Roddy Ricch “thailand,” City Girls “Pussy Talk (RemixPolo G “Unapologetic,” Gunna “poochie gown,” NLE Choppa “Trap Phone” and Babyface Ray “6 Mile Show.”
Southside surprised the masses with a new track of his own today (April 21). Entitled “Hold That Heat,” the single features Travis Scott and Future, both of whom match the song’s energetic intensity with ease. It is also accompanied by a visually pleasing video that fans are sure to enjoy.
As well as Future’s latest contribution, he will be dropping plenty of his own material. Announcing the release of his next record on April 29, he announced it would only be available on the 29th. ‘Worst Day,’ inspired by Valentine’s Day, is already the start of his campaign. Future will follow up his eighth studio album High Off Life, a 21-song effort featuring contributions from Drake, Lil Durk, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Meek Mill, and Lil Baby.
After the tragedy at last year’s Astroworld Festival that left ten people dead, Travis Scott has slowly been making his way back into the spotlight. It seems that signs around Coachella have been promoting Scott’s long-awaited album Utopia, meaning that his return could be sooner than we thought.
Music has long been the heart and soul of popular culture, and for decades we’ve known many of its most noted stars. Few, however, have had the unerring ability to master the art form like Kanye West.
