Video for “Maui Woop” from Kodak Black

The Florida rapper, Kodak Black, released an impressive new track yesterday (Jan. 22) called “Maui Woop,” which is produced by Dyryk and sees the rapper taking a moment to reflect on his life and losses.

In addition to the track, Maui Woop also includes a matching video produced by Cameraman Chris. Kodak Black can be seen entertaining his viewers with a drink on the balcony. He also takes part in water activities, having fun with his kids, and more in the Aloha state. Aside from that, he is seen wearing high-end furs in an unknown setting with his crew of friends.

Kodak Black recently dropped a new album on the heels of his last effort, Kutthroat Bill: Vol 1, which came out last year. The record also included collaborations with the likes of Prince Swanny, NFL Tuewop, VVSNCE, and Lil Crix. Further to this, 2022 was a year in which the 19-track collection Back for Everything was released. There was no doubt that that album would be dominated by the smash hit “Super Gremlin,” a song with an emotional impact that was first released in 2021. In addition to earning a platinum certification on those two singles, they also reached the third spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. A prominent part of the album features a guest appearance from Sniper Gang’s frontman on Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed fifth album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, released on March 29, 2015. The album set a new standard for hip-hop with its own instrumentals and lyrics. During the week ending January 16, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers had the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

“Down” is the new visual from Lord Francis

“Down” is the new visual from Lord Francis

On December 20th, Lord Francis released his new single, “Down,” a melodic effort, created under the production of Too Tall, who is known for his past work with the likes of Shy Glizzy, Rick Ross, and Ace Hood. This dancehall-influenced track is centered around a sexual rendezvous between two lovers and it’s infectious and upbeat.

In addition to the single, Lord Francis and his team worked with Malcolm Cook, Jon Brooks, and Ramses Villalva Designs to create the matching visual accompanied by the single. This clip shows the D.C. talent’s interaction with a woman in a bar before he heads out for a wild night out with his friends. While watching the film, viewers will be able to observe Francis and his love interest engaging in an intimate moment on the beach.

In March of this year, Lord Francis joined the masses with what was dubbed Nocturnal, a six-song EP that delved into the love life of the artist that included the popular singles “Champagne Waup” and “Long Day.” Scattered across the internet, the mysterious artist has stayed off the radar since then. Earlier this year, he announced the return of his music career with a song called “U Street” which pays homage to one of the city’s former nightlife and cultural hubs. His momentum would continue to build with the release of “Growing Man,” another Too Tall-backed production, in which he reflected upon one of his former flames while creating a comparison between his own life and the life of his grandfather.

A new album titled ‘NO THANK YOU’ has been revealed by Little Simz

In honor of the holiday season, Little Simz is releasing her newest release, NO THANK YOU, a collection of ten songs that arrives just a week after the rapper made a surprise announcement about her forthcoming album. Production on the album is handled by Inflo, with three of the tracks featuring Cleo Sol, a previous collaborator.

As the album opens with the track “Angel,” the London emcee Little Simz rages against a machine that does not care about her well-being; she proclaims:

NO THANK YOU was released just over a year after the release of Sometimes I Might Be an Introvert. This 19-track release made its debut on the UK Albums chart back in October as well as reaching the No. 4 positions on the album chart. It later won the highly coveted Mercury Prize for Best Album.

Outside of what he has done in the music industry, Little Simz has continued to make waves in the acting world as well. She served as a guest star in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and took on a much more significant role in Netflix’s series Top Boy, in which she played Shelley in a much larger role. Harper’s Bazaar recently interviewed the critically acclaimed actress, who opened up about the importance of ‘Molly’ as she discussed it in their interview about the show’s upcoming final season, which will take place in the spring:

“To be a part of a cast that has contributed so much to the TV and film worlds is something that is unheard of in our lifetime, and I am honored to be a part of something that is truly extraordinary. Also, what it stands for, bringing to light the stories of people that often are not told and heard; I think that’s really meaningful.”

The University of Missouri has been criticized for a post that trivializes the killing of Black citizens

The University of Missouri has come under fire after a student made a racist and inflammatory remark about Black death on social media. The Kansas City Defender, a nonprofit digital startup, broke the story on Thursday (Dec. 8), reporting that students have demanded the expulsion of a classmate identified as Meg Miller. According to the report, Miller made a post on Snapchat that said “If they would have killed [four] more n**gers, we would have had the whole week off.”

The post was reportedly made in response to the recent police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Students at the University of Missouri have called for Miller’s expulsion from the school, and have started a petition asking the school to take action. As of Friday morning (Dec. 9), the petition had over 1,000 signatures.

The student also said that “All Lives Matter,” a rallying cry for those who believe that the Black Lives Matter movement is overly focused on police brutality against black people. The student’s comments come at a time when the University of Missouri is already under fire for its handling of racial tensions on campus. In November, a group of black students staged a walkout to protest what they said was the administration’s lack of action in response to a series of racist incidents on campus.

n a statement, the university condemned the student’s comment and said it is taking the matter “very seriously.” “The University of Missouri is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our community,” the statement read. “We do not tolerate racism or bigotry of any kind. We are taking this matter very seriously and are investigating.” It is unclear what action, if any, the university will take against the student.
