In ‘R&B Money,’ Tank stacks up the hits

There is always a point at which all good things in life must eventually come to an end, no matter what their aspect may be. It is fair to say that during the course of a career spanning more than 25 years, R&B sensation Tank has produced some timeless recordings and vibes. In the end, the Milwaukee talent will be remembered as one of the best ever to have made it to the top. The male R&B genre has benefited greatly from him. After losing his hearing in his right ear in 2021, Tank has decided to retire from the gaming industry. I hope he is able to continue contributing music for years to come. Earlier today, he released his last album, R&B Money, to the public (Aug 19).

In addition to being a bittersweet moment for most of us, being able to watch Tank’s career blossom over the years is a real honor. It also just so happens that he dropped this album at the best possible time. Social media has become a national topic of discussion after Diddy kicked it off. The question that he posed in a tweet earlier this week was, “Who killed R&B? The question led to many debates with varying answers and reasoning. Essentially, this was the type of alley-oop Tank needed to prove that R&B is far from dead.

Tank explained in a statement what motivated him to record his final album: “ R&B Money represents a labor of love I’ve put into the genre of R&B. That’s who I am! ” he declared. “My life wouldn’t be the same without artists such as Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Keith Sweat, Al Green, and all the fans who keep me motivated to make music. It was imperative to me that this album was a tribute to my influences and my development as an artist, and I think that’s exactly what this record represents.”

“Here We Go” video released by Lou Phelps

“Here We Go” video released by Lou Phelps

In early February, Montreal-born artist Lou Phelps released Touché EP, a collection of three songs showcasing his nimble rhyme style over electro-rap beats. As for the two previous tracks, the outro was produced by Lou Phelps himself, while the outro was assisted by his brother, Kaytranada. A music video for the EP’s title track also was released along with the EP.

Yesterday (August 16), Phelps released the official video to “Here We Go,” the first recording he has released on his own. This new video from Phelps is directed by Igal Perets, and it creates an intense environment as its focus is solely on him in a dark room as the lyrics play:

As we have previously mentioned, Phelps previously teamed up with Joyce Wrice and Oakland spitter Guapdad 4000 on the groovy collaboration track, “Oh Really? ” Together with the production of Agajon and additional production by Kiefer, the song was given an upbeat anthem vibe. “Oh Really?” is Lou Phelps’ first release since the mid-2021 singles “SOUND OF MONEY” and “Supersexe Freestyle.”

With his new single, “Toxic,” YG stirs the pot

YG is currently working on the final touches to his upcoming album, Pray For Me. Fans have had the chance to listen to strong previews such as Moneybagg Yo, “Run” with BIA, Tyga, and 21 Savage, and “Sign Language” and “Scared Money” with J. Cole. On this occasion (Aug. 12), he released “Toxic,” the latest track taken from the project. As YG raps about relationships, he talks about the ups and downs:

Mozzy and YG previously collaborated for their Kommunity Service project back in May with singles like “Perfect Timing” with Blxst and “Bompton To Oak Park.” YG and Mozzy released a steady stream of videos for the project including “Vibe With You” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and “Mad” by Young M.A.

In addition to recently appearing on “Power Mornings” on Power 106 Los Angeles, the California rapper discussed the subject matter of his upcoming album, Pray For Me. Currently, no date has been confirmed for the release. According to YG, it is simply the development of his personal headspace, the stage he is in in life, and what he is going through. The whole COVID pandemic thing was terrible, but I also see it as having helped me get to where I am mentally today. Throughout our lives, we grow as humans, as people. Everything I do will contribute to my personal growth. My life is just going to be a musical expression of my truth at the moment.”

In the new single “2K In The Soda,” Internet Money recruits Lucki

It is planned that Internet Money will release their forthcoming We All We Got EP on Friday, August 19. As part of the collective’s first preview last month, they released “She Want Some More”. Their swift return to the music scene yesterday (Aug. 9) brought yet another taste of their music, this time featuring Lucki on “2K In The Soda“. In the song, Lucki describes the lifestyle of a rockstar in smooth rhymes:

Zane Lowe also interviewed Taz Taylor from Internet Money recently on Apple Music 1, where he explained how the collaboration came to be. “We were just having a great time in the studio,” Taylor said. “Lucki is a very personable individual who portrays the same persona via social media as he does in person. It’s no secret that I’m a Lucki fan. The fact that I got Freeway 3 wasn’t a surprise to me. There were a few things I wanted him to do that I knew pretty well. At the moment, I can work with anyone with the freedom that comes with my current position. But it’s rare to meet someone who is honest and themselves.”

The I.M collective released their debut album, B4 The Storm, last year, in which virtually all of your favorite artists contributed, including Lil Keed, Kevin Gates, Young Nudy, Trippie Redd, Future, Swae Lee, NAV, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Juice WRLD, Wiz Khalifa, and more.
