Earlier this year, Kem released a five-track EP entitled Full Circle, which featured additional collaborations from Brian Culbertson, Ty Dolla $ign, and Rick Ross, who all appeared on the track “Right On Time.” The track was produced by Derek and Kem “DOA” Allen, “Right On Time” portrays the artists expressing their love for their respective love interests:
It was announced last week (Sept. 9) that Kem would be releasing a new video for “Right On Time,” which is directed by Gerald “Plaid” Isaac. A black-and-white clip shows Ross in some fly suits, with color pops appearing on jewelry, a high-end car, and some of his clothing. Among the collaborators can be found a room decorated with white walls and Kem’s debut album’s title above.
The album comes on the heels of Kem’s 2020 LP Love Always Wins, which featured features from Culbertson, Toni Braxton, and Erica Campbell. Additionally, a deluxe edition of the album was released with several remixes and an appearance by Wiz Khalifa. During the same time period, Rozay released Richer Than I Ever Been, a star-studded effort featuring contributions from Blxst, The-Dream, Benny the Butcher, 21 Savage, Jazmine Sullivan, and more.
On Monday night (September 12), Burna Boy appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” where he performed a lively rendition of his latest single “Last Last,” a Toni Braxton-inspired track that has gained widespread success around the world. He gave viewers a small preview of what he can expect the next time he performs on stage with his backing band.
Aside from his brief performance, Burna Boy spoke with Fallon about a variety of topics. The topics covered included the above-mentioned song and his most recent body of work, Love, Damini. A few times during the presentation, he explained to the audience the origins of his now legendary name:
This may sound strange, but I used to illustrate comic books and things like that (laughs). Even though it doesn’t look like it, I used to draw comic books and copy Spider-Man and Superman. After a while, I wanted my own. It was my dream to be my own superhero, so I could draw myself as a superhero wearing a cape and everything. The only name that came to my mind when I was trying to come up with one was Burna Boy (laughs).
Love, Damini, released in July, contains 19 tracks, as well as additional contributions from artists such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, J Hus, Vict0ny, Popcaan, Blxst, Kehlani, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, and Khalid. It climbed both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums charts to reach the number two position, proving a critical and commercial success. As well as “Last Last,” Love, Damini also featured well-received drops, including “Kilometre” and “For My Hand.”
As part of the fan-favorite series that started in 2019, BlueBucksClan will unveil the third installment of Clan Way 3 on Oct. 7. The series has already featured singles such as “I Guess,” “FYM,” and “Just Hit Me.” Over the weekend, the West Coast duo released the music video for its latest single, “Jeeezy WYA,” directed by Michael Vincent. During the course of the song, the two players exchange bars back and forth as they attempt to navigate an action-packed night out together:
The BlueBucksClan returned to the scene with their See The Difference project earlier this year. Despite the EP’s short length, it was composed of four smooth songs without any features. Earlier in 2020, the duo released Clan Virus 2, which topped their list of seven projects in two years.
The two members of BlueBucksClan are currently supporting OhGeesy on the “Geezy World Tour.” Additionally, Drake co-signed the group, referring to them as “two goats” in an Instagram story he posted last month.
A full body of work from Tobe Nwigwe’s moMINTs project was shared last month, and he has been consistently sharing visuals from the project. A number of well-received clips have been released for EarthGang songs, including “Round Here (Parts 1 and 2),” and “Lord Forgive Me” “Big Cap,” performed by Fat, Pharrell Williams, “Destruction,” and “Been Broke” performed by Fat, 2 Chainz, and Chamillionaire.
It was Nwigwe who shared the latest video from moMINTs yesterday (Sept. 11), this time for the track “Get A Lil Bag.” Afflicted with help from his wife Fat, the video features Nwigwe getting his troops prepared for the day ahead. There are several bars about being prepared for battle that he raps on the track:
This is the follow-up to the legendary Cincoriginals compilation of 2020, which contained 14 songs featuring the talents of Cyhi The Prynce, Trae Tha Truth, Bun B, D Smoke, Black Thought, Killa Kyleon, Big K.R.I.T., Royce da 5’9”, Fat, along with the legendary producer LaNell Grant. Throughout the last year, he has released freestyles such as “Wake Up Everybody,” “A Revealing Freestyle,” and “A Million.”
A new studio LP from Wiz Khalifa, titled Multiverse, was released in July and featured 17 songs with contributions from Girl Talk and THEY. It was yesterday (Sept. 11) that the Pittsburgh rapper dropped the new visual from his upcoming project, “High Maintenance,” which sees him crooning about his own highs and lows as a celebrity and wealthmaker:
The video accompanying “High Maintenance” reminds viewers of Khalifa’s iconic “DayToday” series, providing a glimpse into Khalifa’s busy life behind the scenes. In less than three minutes, you can watch Khalifa at the gym, performing with his son Sebastian before an audience of friends, and indulging in his usual vices.
In the months leading up to the release of Multiverse, Wiz Khalifa collaborated with Big K.R.I.T., Girl Talk, and Smoke DZA on the successful album Full Court Press. The album features 10 songs, including one with Curren$y. Aside from Stoner’s Night, as well as a notable collaboration with Elle Varner and BIG30 in 2022, the Taylor Gang head honcho teamed up with Juicy J for Stoner’s Night as well. Khalifa is known for releasing musical projects frequently, so it is not surprising that he will release another project or two before the end of the year.
