The chairman of REVOLT Media & TV, Sean “Diddy” Combs announced his plans to open up a new college prep school in The Bronx.

The plan is to open Capital Prep Bronx on Sep. 8, and for now, the method of teaching will be limited to remote tools, due to Coronavirus. During the first year of the school, almost 200 underserved sixth and seventh grade students will attend the lectures. In the next few years, the school is optimistic of teaching 650 students, from grades six through eleven.

“My dream has always been to provide children, in communities like the Bronx, the high quality education they deserve,” said Diddy in a statement. “We’re not just teaching reading, math and coding. We are grooming future leaders that will change their communities and the world.”

Previously, two other prep schools were opened by Diddy and Dr. Steve Perry; which are located in Harlem, New York and Bridgeport, Connecticut.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our next school together in Co-Op City, a community rooted in social justice and diversity.” Dr. Perry said in a statement. “While opening up remote at first is bittersweet, we have developed a best in class approach to online learning we are excited to implement with our new families. The Capital Prep college prep model is perfectly poised to transition into the digital space and we are excited to deliver a rigorous education to this inaugural class of scholars.”

Two years ago, Diddy- a longtime education advocate- pledged to donate $1 million towards the Bronx location. Stating that he knows the environment in which the kids lived, he expressed that he wanted to offer them a quality education.

“I understand the importance of access to a great education, and the critical role it plays in a child’s future,” he previously said. “Our school provides historically disadvantaged students with the college and career skills needed to become responsible and engaged citizens for social justice.”

After a video surfaced of an officer smothering a Black Lyft passenger until he became unconscious in Atlanta surfaced online, a Clayton County Deputy was put on administrative leave.

According to reports, the incident took place outside the Georgia Department of Public Health vital records office, close to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and an investigation is underway.

The victim and his girlfriend were availing of Lyft’s ride-hailing car service and the driver was asked to pull over midway as his tail light was allegedly not working. It was revealed that the driver did not have his driver’s license with him and the passengers were asked to display their IDs. However, the passengers questioned as to why their IDs were being sought when they did not do anything wrong.

The man was asked to step out of the car and eventually, things got pretty serious and one of the officers held the man down, while the other had him in a chokehold with his young child looking. The incident, when captured in another angle, shows the cops punching the individual in his stomach.

At one point, the man can be heard saying, “I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die. I can’t breathe,” but the officer continued to strike him a few more times, until he was unconscious. In the video, it can also be seen that three officers attempted to handcuff him as blood streamed down his face.

It is still unclear as to what led to the incident or what happened to the passengers. Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said in a press release that he “ordered his entire Internal Affairs Unit to come in and begin an investigation that has been on going since 8pm.”

The police shooting of Jacob Blake has led to the NFL taking several steps to address the issues with the current system and seeking social justice reforms across the NFL. However, Colin Kaepernick is unsure about the efforts being genuine.

He claimed that the initiatives undertaken by the football league are propaganda and the former San Francisco 49er criticized them for expelling Eric Reid for his attempts to battle against systemic racism.

“While the NFL runs propaganda about how they care about Black Life, they are still actively blackballing Eric Reid (@E_Reid35) for fighting for the Black community,” Kaepernick tweeted. “Eric set 2 franchise records last year, and is one of the best defensive players in the league.”

It was Reid who was the first 49er to follow Kaepernick and kneel during the National Anthem as a way to protest police brutality. Even during Kaepernick’s absence, he continued to kneel and was unexpectedly released from the Carolina Panthers in March although he had a great record. Later, ESPN ranked Reid as the No. 7 free agent. Although every player ranked above him has been recruited, he still hasn’t found a new NFL team ready to play him.

After the shooting of George Floyd, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL apologized for refusing to listen to the concerns related to racial injustice. However, it was Blake’s shooting that led to actual action.

Prior to the NFL season, it was revealed that messages related to social justice will be sprawled across the end zones. Moreover, other initiatives have also been announced, such as enhancing relations between law enforcement and the community, and to close all their facilities on Election Day to ensure that their employees can vote.

Moreover, each of the teams have also revealed their plans for social justice and chose to stay in their locker rooms during national anthems.

While Kaepernick is still unsure about the NFL’s efforts, he appreciated LeBron James who played a pivotal role in the boycotts staged by the NBA.

“Four years ago on August 14, 2016, I began protesting against systemic racism and social injustice,” Kaepernick penned to James. “Truth is what I sought. Solidarity is what you showed me. Love is what moves us forward. Thank you for staying true.”

Look below for Kaepernick’s post about the NFL blackballing Reid.
