Shaquille O’Neal says he just voted for the first time ever

It has been divulged that Shaquille O’Neal voted for the first time ever.

This news by revealed by the former NBA superstar himself, in “The Big Podcast with Shaq” on Wednesday (Oct. 7). “You know I always like being honest on my podcast. I’ve never voted before, America,” he said. “But, now I’m doing all these voting campaigns, and you know one thing I never like to do is be a hypocrite.”

“In other words, America, I voted for the first time, and it feels good,” he added. When his co-host John Kincade asked him as to what was the reason for never voting, he stated that he “didn’t understand the electoral college system.”

“I can’t believe you didn’t vote for Obama,” Kincade said.

Then O’Neal delved into the last presidential elections, wherein although Hillary Clinton won the popular vote to become president, Donald Trump ended up winning the elections because he enjoyed more electoral votes.

He then admitted that he did not have any excuse to not vote ever. This summer, he became a part of When We All Vote, which is a voting initiative by Michelle Obama, in order to push others to register to vote. “Everyone needs to go out and vote, period,” the sports analyst previously said.

Another celeb who will be voting for the first time is none other than Snoop Dogg. In June, he revealed that he was “brainwashed” into believing that he was ineligible to vote as he has a criminal record.

“I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’ma get out and vote ’cause I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year,” the California native said, referring to President Trump. “For many years, they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t vote ’cause you had a criminal record. I didn’t know that. My record’s been expunged, so now I can vote.”

Master P will likely get honored by BET in a remarkable manner. At the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, he will be the recipient of “I Am Hip Hop” award. The function will take place on Oct. 27 at 9 PM ET.

“In addition to music, television and film, Master P’s mogul touch has transcended into the worlds of fashion, sports, management and more that has left him consistently ranked as one of the wealthiest figures on the American hip hop scene,” said BET in a statement. “Presently, Miller is working on his package food lines, RAPSNACKS, Uncle P’s, and Hoody Hoos Cereals. In addition to his food product lines, he is promoting his Moneyatti clothing and shoe products.”

Recently, this “Make ‘Em Say Ugh” emcee launched alternatives to Uncle Ben’s and Aunt Jemima food products that are black-owned.

“Uncle P rice we taking over the game!” he wrote in an Instagram post alongside a photo of his new products. “White rice, brown rice, and red beans & rice. They never gonna see us coming, but we are here. If they can do it, we can do it. Start small and build.”

The objective of his recent endeavor was to direct money towards the Black community. “We need to understand that we’re not going to be able to put money back in our community because we don’t own those brands,” he said in an interview with Yahoo! Finance. “Our grandparents [have] been having us buy those products because they think it’s people that look like us.

“What we fighting for right now, we got to do it on a financial level and start fighting for those rights on the financial side and start showing people that we have people that are thinking outside the box, coming up with great ideas,” he continued.

While it is true that he has done a lot for the culture, he was also proactive in giving back to his community. Very recently, he chose to pay for the funeral expenses of a toddler in Louisville, following her fatal shooting when she was playing with her dollhouse.

“This a 3-year-old innocent girl that’s gone from her family, from her future, somebody who could have come out of the community and be the next president, doctor, lawyer, teacher,” Master P said back in August. “This is sad.”

Donald Trump called LeBron James a “hater” and criticized him being outspoken

The President of the United States- Donald Trump – expressed his dislike for LeBron James in Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.

When speaking about the Los Angeles Laker superstar talking against Trump and his presidency and talking in favor of the Black Lives Matter movement, Trump chose some interesting words. “The NBA has become so political that nobody cares about it anymore,” he said.

“LeBron is a spokesman for the Democratic party and a very nasty spokesman,” he reportedly said. “I don’t know him, I never met him. Because, again, I’ve done so much for the Black community and people don’t wanna see that and he’s a great basketball player, but people don’t want to see a guy that’s that way. They don’t want to see that. … He’s a hater. You don’t want to sit down, watch a basketball game, and then watch somebody that hates your guts, okay.”

Interestingly, these two popular names have clashed before as well. Two months ago, Trump stated that he would start watching NBA games only if players stopped kneeling down during the National Anthem. He also called peaceful protests “unacceptable” and added that apart from Abraham Lincoln, no other president had done as much for the Black community as he has.

When reporters questioned James regarding Trump’s comments, he said: “Are you trying to make me laugh right now?”

“I really don’t think the basketball community [is] sad about losing his viewership, him viewing the game,” the NBA star said. “And that’s all I got to say.”

Moreover, he stated that he did not wish to focus on Trump. Instead, he used up that time to push people to vote. “I hope everyone, no matter the race, no matter the color, no matter their sides, see what leadership that we have at the top of our country and understand that November is right around the corner, and it’s a big moment for us as Americans,” he said.

James added, “If we continue to talk about what we want better, we want change, we have an opportunity to do that. But the game will go on without his eyes on it. I can sit here and speak for all of us that love the game of basketball. We [couldn’t] care less.”

Recordings from Breonna Taylor grand jury deliberations released

The audio recordings from the secret grand jury deliberations pertaining to the death of Breonna Taylor have been released. This comes after a mandate from a judge directing Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron to release the tapes by noon on Friday (Oct. 2). About 15 hours of recordings were released by Cameron, although he had initially claimed that it was over 20 hours long.

Last Wednesday, following the indictment of ex-officer Brett Hankison on three counts of wanton endangerment for firing his gun into Taylor’s neighboring homes by the grand jury, protests erupted. Although two other cops fired their guns- Myles Cosgrove and Jonathan Mattingly – they were not indicted. No officer was charged in relation to Taylor’s death.

Following this decision, activists have questioned as to what evidence was presented by Cameron’s team. Earlier this week, a juror sued to release the audio recordings and to be permitted to speak publicly about the case. Cameron initially refused to release the tapes. However, a judge stated that the juror was right. Following this, Cameron sought an extension to redact jurors’ personal information, but the judge gave him only till Friday.

“Once the public listens to the recording, they will see that over the course of two-and-a-half days our team presented a thorough and complete case to the grand jury,” the AG previously said, adding that he has “no concerns” about the public listening to the tapes.

This audio comes after Cameron was accused by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear of providing “contradictory statements” related to the interviews that were conducted during the investigation as well as the evidence that was presented to the grand jury.

Kevin Glogower, the attorney of the juror who sued for the release of the tapes, also stated that the jury was being used as a shield by Cameron.

The full story and absolute truth of how this matter was handled from beginning to end is now an issue of great public interest and has become a large part of the discussion of public trust throughout the country,” he said.

Glogower stated that it is important for the public to know the charging options that the jury was presented with. Cameron stated that through his investigation, it was found out that Cosgrove and Mattingly cannot be charged, as Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker fired his gun first and hence, they are protected by Kentucky’s self-defense law. Cameron had also claimed that the warning shot of Walker hit Mattingly, although latest evidence refutes these claims.

A footage has been obtained by the Aurora Police Department, wherein an officer can be seen “torturing” a Black woman in police custody.

In the video, Officer Levi Huffine hogtied Shatean Kelly and left her remain in a face-down position for about 21 minutes, although she pleaded for help.

On August 27, 2019, Kelly was arrested on municipal charges after she got into an altercation. Her hands were handcuffed to her feet by Hine, who claimed that she attempted to open the locks of the car to escape. When he began to drive to the prison facility, she reportedly fell down, landing face-first on the floor and asked for help. However, Hine chose to ignore her.

“Please, help me up, officer! I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe, officer!” Kelly cried. “I’m about to break my neck. I don’t want to die like this!” “I beg you, master,” she was also heard screaming in the video.

Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson claimed there was no need for Huffine to be hogtied, and she noted that the locks in the cop car could not have been unlocked by Kelly.

“The hobbling in my opinion was another form of punishment,” she said. “In my opinion, she was just tortured back there. It makes me sick. We are not judge, jury and [executioner]. We are not to treat people inhumanely like they don’t matter.”

Moreover, she also stated that Kelly’s reference to Huffine as her “master” was “disgusting.”

Initially, Huffine was not charged with anything as Kelly was not injured. However, in February, Wilson decided to repeal the review board’s suggested punishment of a 180-day suspension and fired him. The termination was appealed by him, as he argued that he was too short to see what was happening in the back seat. Huffine will testify on Oct. 1 and the city’s four-person civil service commission will decide his fate.
