The latest project by Lecrae is titled Church Clothes 4

In addition to 13 brand-new songs, the fourth album from Lecrae Church Clothes series features several guest appearances. It features A.I. The Anomaly, Jon Keith, WHATUPRG, Andy Mineo, Jordan L’Oreal, Nobigdyl., and PJ Morton. An Instagram post he made just before the album’s release explained the meaning behind the project, as well as its predecessors:

The Church Clothes project is interesting to me because I feel that it is the most accurate representation of my values and what I believe in. The story of a hip hop culture raised kid who came to know Jesus when he was in high school. I consider them both to be a part of who I am as a person. It is like combining Outkast with the writings of Moses. We each have a lane in which God has called us to run. Run your marathon as I run mine.

In addition, fans were also able to catch a glimpse of the new video for the track that stands out among the rest on Church Clothes 4: “Still In America,” which is believed to be an extension of Lecrae‘s “Welcome to America.” Shot by Isaac Deitz and taken by another cameraman, the video for “Still In America” shows Lecrae walking down the street as things become increasingly chaotic around him, in matching with the song’s socially and politically charged content:

Church Clothes 4 is Lecrae’s follow-up to No Church in a While, his collaborative project with 1K Phew released last December. Previously, he released the record Restoration in 2020, which featured collaborations with artists such as DaniLeigh, John Legend, YK Osiris, Kirk Franklin, and BJ the Chicago Kid.

Quavo, a standout figure in the contemporary music scene, is known for his hard-hitting lyrics and infectious hooks. With a recent reconciliation with Offset, fans were expecting a collaboration between the two. However, Quavo has decided to take a different path. The release of his latest work, “Rocket Power,” has created a buzz, but what’s surprising is his next venture. Quavo has revealed his next project will be the posthumous album of Takeoff, a project that holds a special place in his heart.

Quavo’s New : The Rocket’s Project

In a recent exclusive chat with VIBE, Quavo opened up about his future plans. While there was curiosity about any potential music tapes with his previous Migos mate, Set, Quavo chose not to entertain these questions. Instead, he declared his focus on a new project, which he lovingly refers to as “Rocket’s project.”

“The next project I’m going to be working on is the Rocket’s. You know what I’m saying? Takeoff,” he revealed without a timeline. “I’m gathering a whole bunch of information, gathering a lot of producers, gathering a lot of my friends, a lot of the artists. And we’re going to make this album one of the craziest albums of all time.”

Quavo is determined to make this project a grand tribute to Takeoff, bringing together a talented group of producers, artists, and friends. He aims to create an album that will resonate with fans and cement Takeoff’s legacy in the music industry.

Honoring Takeoff: A Commitment to Memory

Quavo’s connection with Takeoff goes beyond music. They were not just group members but also family. Since Takeoff’s untimely death in November, Quavo has continued to remember and honor his nephew in his own way. His first solo album since 2018’s “Quavo Huncho” is a testament to this, where he openly discusses his grief and his struggle to appreciate life amidst the loss.

“I feel like this is trap Gospel, you know what I’m saying? This the gangster Gospel. This for the ones who sometimes may let a cuss word slip out in church, but still say, ‘Sorry, Lord.’ Everybody ain’t the same to where they can express themself without saying a cuss word or two.”

Quavo sees his latest album as a form of “Trap Gospel,” a raw and honest expression of his emotions and experiences. It’s an album for those who may not always be perfect but are genuine in their feelings and their love for God.

A Glimpse into Quavo’s Vulnerability: “Hold Me”

One track that particularly showcases Quavo’s raw emotions is “Hold Me,” where he opens up about losing Takeoff and his faith in God. The lyrics are a piercing look into his heart, revealing a side of Quavo that fans rarely see.

Remembering Takeoff: A Constant Reminder

Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, left a void in Quavo’s life. However, Quavo is determined to keep his memory alive. He expresses his love and misses for Takeoff, assuring fans that his smile does not mean he has forgotten his nephew.

“I miss him a lot and I love him. He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. And that’s it.”

Quavo’s heartfelt confession resonates with anyone who has experienced loss. His words remind us that grief is personal, and everyone copes differently. However, the love we hold for the departed never fades away.

Quavo’s journey in the music industry has been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. In a significant legal decision, a judge in Washington, D.C., has ruled that the Proud Boys, a white supremacist group, must pay a substantial amount in restitution for their destructive actions towards a historic Black church. The Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, situated just a short distance from the White House, was granted a default judgment exceeding $1 million in their lawsuit against the Proud Boys. The lawsuit was initiated three years ago and sought justice for the wanton destruction of a prominent Black Lives Matter sign.

The incident, which occurred in December 2020, shook the community and brought attention to the ongoing struggles against racial injustice. The Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, renowned for its rich history and significance in the African American community, stood as a symbol of resilience and hope. The vandalism committed by the Proud Boys tarnished not only the physical property but also the values of equality and social progress.

The judge’s ruling serves as a crucial step towards accountability and reparations. It sends a resounding message that acts of hate and bigotry will not go unpunished. By holding the Proud Boys responsible for their actions, the court reinforces the importance of respecting the rights and dignity of marginalized communities.

While the financial compensation awarded to the church cannot fully repair the harm caused, it represents a tangible measure of justice. The funds will contribute to the restoration and revitalization of the affected community, reaffirming their commitment to inclusivity and unity.

This ruling stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church and the broader movement for social justice. It reinforces the idea that institutions and individuals who propagate hate and division will face the consequences of their actions. By seeking legal recourse, the church has asserted its unwavering commitment to preserving the principles of equality and dismantling systemic racism.

As the community reflects on this landmark decision, it serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and the imperative to protect the rights of marginalized communities. The fight against racism and discrimination requires continued solidarity and vigilance. The case of the Proud Boys and the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church stands as a pivotal moment in this ongoing battle, amplifying the voices of those seeking a more equitable society.

Through the determination of the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church and the unwavering support of allies, this triumph sends a powerful message. It emphasizes that acts of hate and intolerance will not deter the pursuit of justice and equality. The ruling sets a precedent for holding accountable those who seek to undermine the progress of social justice movements.

In the face of adversity, the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church and its community have shown immense strength and resilience. Their victory in this legal battle marks a milestone in the fight against systemic racism and discrimination. It serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all those engaged in the pursuit of a fairer and more inclusive society.
