It is with much excitement that NBA YoungBoy returns today (Nov. 22) with another loose track and video titled “Hi Hater.” There is something upbeat about “Hi Hater” with its guitar rhythm and upbeat beat that fills the recording room in which NBA YoungBoy is recording his song. The accompanying visuals show off the stylish cars and jewels that the Baton Rouge rapper drives around, but it is also through the visual that he conveys a message to all of the haters in the world:
In light of the musician’s recent announcement, Motown Records announced a new deal a couple of weeks ago. With the release of The Last Slimeto in August, NBA YoungBoy marked his final release on Atlantic Records, following the closing of his previous label. There were several guest appearances on that project, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, including Kehlani, Rod Wave, and Quavo. The Last Slimeto was also a significant album in terms of the number of standout singles, including “Mr. Grim Reaper,” “I Hate YoungBoy,” and “I Got The Bag.”
Last month, Gangsta Grillz’s rapper Made No Sense released Ma’ I Got A Family in collaboration with DJ Drama, which culminated a 19-track mixtape he dropped earlier in the year. The brand-new project not only features 19 tracks, but Nicki Minaj and Yeat have also contributed two additional features to the project in addition to the 19 tracks. Besides the songs he released himself, YoungBoy has also been featured on a number of songs lately, including “Flags To The Sky” created with NoCap, and “To The Bone” recorded with Takeoff and Quavo, more.
This is the official start of Lil Baby season. A new documentary on rapper Lil Baby, Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, was released last week, giving viewers an insight into the star’s life and career. Lil Baby follows up recent loose singles “Frozen,” “In A Minute,” and “U-Digg” with a new track titled “Detox,” which may indicate a new studio album is coming soon.
The sophomore studio LP My Turn by Lil Baby was released two years ago, and it contained 20 songs and features from Future, 42 Dugg, Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and Rylo Rodriguez. Despite the project’s critical and commercial success, it failed to reach number one on the Billboard 200, despite selling 197,000 CD-equivalents during its first week. Several months later, a deluxe edition of the four-times Platinum effort arrived with seven additional songs, including the smash hit “We Paid” and Grammy-nominated “The Bigger Picture.”
As part of the Voice of the Heroes album, Lil Baby partnered with fellow hip hop frontrunner Lil Durk, who collaborated with artists such as Young Thug, Meek Mill, Future, and Rod Wave. In addition to topping the chart with 150,000 equivalent album units, The Voice of the Heroes also topped the Billboard chart, as well. Both parties received Platinum plaques for their efforts.
He has quickly established himself as one of the most sought after featured artists across a wide range of genres apart from his own work. Among the songs he has appeared on since The Voice of the Heroes hit the ground are EST Gee “5500 Degrees,” H.E.R. “Find A Way,” Meek Mill “Sharing Locations,” Drake “Girls Want Girls,” Kanye West “Hurricane,” Nardo Wick “Me Or Sum,” Ed Sheeran “2step (Remix),” Nicki Minaj “Do We Have A Problem?,” and DJ Khaled “BIG TIME.”
It has been a while since Fivio Foreign released his debut album B.I.B.L.E., which features 17 tracks as well as contributions from Blueface, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Quavo, Coi Leray, Queen Naija, Chlöe, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, and more. It has since been possible for fans to watch visuals from the project, including “What’s My Name” with Coi Leray & Queen Naija and “Hello,” “For Nothin” by KayCyy.
A brand new single is released today (July 8) by the Brooklyn star entitled “Paris To Tokyo.” Led by the Brooklyn star and accompanied by The Kid Laroi, the track features an interpolation of Far East Movement’s 2010 hit “Rocketeer”:
In the years preceding B.I.B.L.E., Fivio kept his fans well fed with a number of top tier singles, including “Self-Made (Freestyle),” “Unruly,” “Trust,” “Creepin” and “Story Time” alongside Rowdy Rebel, “Bop It,” “13 Going On 30” alongside Polo G, “Move Like A Boss,” “Fully Focused (Freestyle)” featuring Young M.A. He also provided his unique tracks for the likes of the late Pop Smoke, French Montana, DaniLeigh, Russ Millions & Tion Wayne, Drake, Sleepy Hallow, Calboy, Nas, Nicki Minaj and more.
The Staten Island native Abby Jasmine is giving us what we all have been feeling in 2020! Her new album “Whocares?” features hit songs such as; Twenty-Twenty, On God, Coneheads, and Like Me. Abby first gained her following on social media platform Vine. In 2016 she quickly gained the attention of the masses with her short freestyles, comedy parody videos.
Lovie (Designed by God) from Results and No Hype magazine stepped in and asked the Cinematic Music Group artist a few questions about the new project and her as a new artist on the come up.
DBG: What was the most challenging song to make on the album and why?
Abby: The most challenging so to make for me …. umm I guess Coneheads because honestly, I put a lot of pressure on myself very early on to like .. write this song. Like when I was showing people, like when I was making the project I was showing people the songs, Coneheads was the only one that wasn’t completely finished. So I was showing it to people when it wasn’t completely finished and everyone was like “you this is fire” “this is gonna be one of the hardest songs on the project” and that kinda put pressure on me as a writer, damn I have to make this fire as possible. I got stuck with writer’s block for a couple and I couldn’t write this song. I think it was just the hook I was having trouble with we reached out to this writer his name is Nick, he wrote the hook, and as soon as he wrote the hook for the song after that I was like I can write the rest.
DBG: What’s your favorite track on the project creative wise?
Abby: Ummm It switches all the time, I listen to so many songs and be like ” ehh, did I do the best I could do?” and then I’ll go back six months from now and be like “wow this is really fire!” So right now I’ve been listening to On God. That’s like one of my favorite tracks I just love being to talk ish on track, I feel like there’s not enough tracks where I can talk my shit, I will probably be talking my shit until I’m 80.
DBG: If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be and why?
Abby: Mmmm .. ugh shoot can we take the men out [laughs] sike Nah I’m just playing. Nah I think my biggest thing, from what I’ve seen so far, and correct me if I’m wrong, a lot of the women we see get co-signed by guys. I want it to be those powerful women, women, in general, we just co-sign each other and those are the co-signs that stick. I really don’t see women giving other women co-signs, like we have to build this shit together you know? Instead of letting the men decide “she’s dope” like nah, Nicki Minaj said “you cool you dope” people be waiting for Drake to co-sign them! You know? Nah, we got to stick together.
Abby Jasmine’s latest project Who Cares? Is available on all platforms. Tell us what you think of it so far!
