On Sunday, Miami Heat was defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers, which made the latter the NBA Champions of 2020. It has been a decade since the team attained this title again. In 2010, the team achieved this under the great Kobe Bryant. Vanessa, late Kobe’s widow, spoke about the win in a private Instagram Story post.

“Congratulations Uncle P! Congratulations [Lakers],” she captioned an old photo of Kobe and Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka. “Kobe was right RP ‘stay the course- block out the noise’ – [Kobe Bryant.]”

She added, “Wish Kobe and Gianna were here to see this.”

Kobe was honored by the Lakers this season, as they wore Black Mamba uniforms for Game 5. Just last week, LeBron James wore a shirt with a picture of Kobe that read, “More than ever with love, 1978-2020.” James led the team to its victory, with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Upon winning the game on Sunday, the milestone was dedicated to Kobe by the Lakers.

“Kobe — I know he’s looking down on us super proud,” Anthony Davis told reporters. “We miss him and this is definitely for him.”

“I think Kobe and Gianna have guided this team the entire year,” General Manager Pelinka said. “Kobe’s voice is always in my head — always. Every day; every minute… for us to be able to win this championship doesn’t take away the sting of the loss, but what it does is it helps us add to their legacy.”

He added, “Kobe and Gianna’s legacy will last forever. It will impact lives around the world in positive ways and this Lakers championship in 2020 is partly to build on that legacy and honor them. The moment couldn’t be any more special to do that for them.”

Throughout his two-decade career, Kobe played for the Lakers. Earlier this year, both he and his daughter, Gianna, passed away in a helicopter crash along with seven others.

In the 2020 NBA playoffs, Los Angeles Lakers won their Game six on Sunday, with a score of 106-93 to become this year’s NBA Champions. This is a matter of significance especially because since the team last achieved this in 2010, when Kobe Bryant led them in the finals, to win the sixth game in the tournament.

When the Lakers advanced to the Finals a few weeks ago, social media couldn’t get enough of this news and the subsequent celebrations. “You can’t tell me that LeBron James is not the MVP of the league with a 38-16-10 performance tonight to lead the @Lakers to the NBA Finals!” NBA legend Magic Johnson tweeted at the time.

Many basketball fans immediately thought of Bryant when this moment happened. “Oh, boy. I don’t wanna cry this early. All for Kobe. All for Lakers nation. LeBron got you, Mr. Bryant. King James will make history in your name,” a Twitter user by the name of @FinnPong2 added.

The first two games in the playoffs against Miami Heat saw Lakers sailing through. In the third game, Miami Heat won and the fourth game was won by Lakers yet again. However, Heat decided to not lose without putting up a fight and ended up winning game five. So, the Los Angeles team was aware that the job must be finished on Sunday, not merely for their own satisfaction, but also for their city and more importantly for the Lakers legend Bryant, who pulled this off a decade ago.

Thanks to this win, James officially became the first NBA player to win championships while in three different teams: the Cleveland Cavilers, Miami Heat, and now the L.A. Lakers. Moreover, for the fourth time, he was declared an MVP.

Last weekend, Trey Songz launched his eighth studio album Back Home, which includes 22 tracks and features from Summer Walker, Ty Dolla $ign, Davido, and Swae Lee. Recently, he also launched a new video for the album cut “I Know A Love,” which was dedicated to his one-year-old son Noah and includes production from Chad Paul and Troy Taylor:

“I know a love, nothin’ compares to you, somethin’ so real, it make me feel brand new, wanna be the one to catch you when you fall, I’m gon’ be here, that’s forever, that’s for sure/

’Cause I know a love that make a man feel good, I know a love I never knew I could, I’m so thankful, you’re a blessin’ from above, so amazin’, now I know a better love…/”

This visual was self-directed and looks at Trey Songz’s first year of fatherhood. He is seen feeding and lounging around with Noah, as he plays with his toys, and also enjoying FaceTime with his son, and also includes a collection of phone videos and still shots.

Back Home included two singles “Two Ways,” “Circles,” the title track, and “Riots 2020: How Many Times,” and the latter saw him returning to the Commonwealth state to assist his community battling against racism and systemic oppression. Back Home comes after Tremaine The Album, released in 2017, which is a top three effort on the Billboard 200 and included 15 cuts and a single feature from Songz’s artist MIKExANGEL.

Moreover, this month, Trey Songz was also diagnosed with Coronavirus and took to social media to make this announcement:

“I’ve taken many tests as I’ve been out protesting, food drives — of course, I have a very young son at home. So, I get tested periodically and unfortunately, this time, it came back positive. … I will be taking it seriously. I will be self-quaranting. I will be in my home until I see a negative sign.”

Recently, Jacob Blake’s father revealed that Lil Wayne called his son when he was still in the hospital, and recovering following his shooting by a cop in Kenosha, Wisconsin police officer.

In a recent interview, Jacob Blake Sr. stated that the “Lollipop” emcee spoke to his son on a phone call, and the latter could not contain his excitement.

“He called him and you would’ve swore [Jacob] was a little boy, man,” he said. “I promised I wouldn’t get emotional with him on the phone, but when he hung up the phone I couldn’t stop my tears. He said, ‘Dad, I almost choked up and ran across the room.’ I said, ‘Yeah, you would’ve done that until you realized that wasn’t going to work too well for you.’”

“And he said, ‘Yeah, but it felt like I could Dad. I felt like I could,’” Blake Sr. continued. “I said, ‘Well, that’s what it was all about. That’s why he called. We love you, dude.’”

“He stayed on the phone maybe 12 to 15 minutes with me and his mother after the phone call. He was in good spirits last night and it was good for all of us because it’s been tough,” he added.

Blake got a phone call from his favorite rap artist along with a great gift- an accessible van.

On August 23, Blake sustained several bullet injuries as he was shot while entering the vehicle with his young children. Initially, the officers were asked to come sort out a domestic incident. Attorney Benjamin Crump stated that Blake was trying to put an end to a physical dispute between two women.

According to witnesses, the encounter between Blake and the police was recorded on their cellphones. In the video footage, it could be seen that he struggled to go away from the officers before attempting to get inside his car. Then, Blake was grabbed by Officer Rusten Sheskey, following which he was shot seven times in the back.

Recently, he was released from the Milwaukee hospital and was admitted into a Chicago rehab facility. However, it is not clear as to for how long he must remain in the center. He is paralyzed from the waist down.

Check out a clip from the interview below.
