Earlier this week, PnB Rock dropped his new single, “Luv Me Again.” The single marked PnB Rock’s first release as an independent artist, and it was produced by D.A Got That Dope. The Philly-born singer’s new release features an airy, guitar-led beat that serves as a perfect backdrop to his love-struck lyrics:
“If you haven’t heard, I just released my very first independent single across ALL platforms!” says the artist on Instagram. Thanks to my fans and supporters, I have received such love that cannot be described in words. We’re going to the moon with this stuff, no kizzy.
As part of his SoundCloud Daze project, PnB Rock shared a 12-song tribute to the pivotal era that included features from Tennisboywill, Yung Fazo, Pasto Flocco, and Iayze. Prior to this, PnB Rock released a Christmas EP called 2 Get You Thru The Rain in December. A viral single, “HIGH,” preceded the album, which had six tracks and featured Young Thug and Lil Baby.
In the past week, Tink released her new Pillow Talk album, which includes 16 tracks with guest appearances from 2 Chainz, Toosii, Russ, Fabolous, Muni Long, Layton Greene, and G Herbo. There were two well-received singles prior to the release of the album: “Goofy” and “Cater” with 2 Chainz. The latest video from Tink’s Pillow Talk was released yesterday (August 24), showcasing the empowering “I Choose Me” track. It is a black and white video directed by Matt Alonzo in which Tink delivers a number of lyrics concerning the importance of putting oneself first.
Pillow Talk follows Tink’s 2021 album, Heat of the Moment, which featured 14 tracks and guest appearances by Yung Bleu, Davido, Jeremih, and Kodak Black. She preceded the full release with the Yung Bleu-produced track “Selfish.” She has also provided assistance on releases such as “Heaven Knows” with Shaun Sloan, “Worth It” with Sonta, “Twin” with Ann Marie, “Baby Go Harder” with Casey Veggies, and “Black Men Don’t Cheat” with K Camp featuring 6lack and Ari Lennox.
In an album released via RCA Records on Thursday (August 18), Stunna Gambino released Vultures Don’t Kry. The album featured appearances from A Boogie With Da Hoodie, Lil Perco, and 2KBABY spread over 15 tracks. Gambino shared a music video over the weekend to celebrate the release of the album, which is titled “Everyday Struggles,” the track that introduces the album. As the video’s lyrics describe some of the tough scenarios Gambino dealt with during his upbringing, it vividly recreates some tough scenarios that the rapper went through:
The latest full-length from Gambino was Underrated, which came out earlier this year. There were appearances by Jay Cino, Sleezus Bhrist, David Lee, and Alpha across 14 tracks. Along with his own releases, “Runaway” featuring Jay Esco and Stunna appeared on “Legend” with Lil Spooki as well as Scorey.
In early February, Montreal-born artist Lou Phelps released Touché EP, a collection of three songs showcasing his nimble rhyme style over electro-rap beats. As for the two previous tracks, the outro was produced by Lou Phelps himself, while the outro was assisted by his brother, Kaytranada. A music video for the EP’s title track also was released along with the EP.
Yesterday (August 16), Phelps released the official video to “Here We Go,” the first recording he has released on his own. This new video from Phelps is directed by Igal Perets, and it creates an intense environment as its focus is solely on him in a dark room as the lyrics play:
As we have previously mentioned, Phelps previously teamed up with Joyce Wrice and Oakland spitter Guapdad 4000 on the groovy collaboration track, “Oh Really? ” Together with the production of Agajon and additional production by Kiefer, the song was given an upbeat anthem vibe. “Oh Really?” is Lou Phelps’ first release since the mid-2021 singles “SOUND OF MONEY” and “Supersexe Freestyle.”
