Over the course of the year, Gucci Mane has offered fans quality singles such as “Blood All On It,” “Publicity Stunt” by Key Glock “Rumors,” “Fake Friends” with Lil Durk, and Young Dolph, “Mrs. Davis,” “Serial Killers,” “All Dz Chainz” featuring Lil Baby,” and “Dissin The Dead.” As well as his own songs, he appeared on Pooh Shiesty “Next Up,” Big Scarr “Houdini,” Quavo and Takeoff “Us vs. Them” and Mariah Carey “Obsessed (Remix).”
As of today (Aug. 19), Gucci is adding to that with the release of “Gelati,” a track featuring 1017 rising star BigWalkDog, along with fellow hometown hero Peewee Longway. According to the chorus of “Gelati,” the song is all about making money and enjoying life to the fullest:
Almost a year has passed since Gucci Mane released his fifteenth studio album Ice Daddy. This album included 17 songs and guest appearances by BIG30, Pooh Shiesty, 2 Chainz, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, and more. A further point of significance is that one of hip hop’s most prolific artists has continued to produce – for example, Gucci releases albums on his 1017 label including So Icy Boyz, So Icy Christmas, and So Icy Gang: The ReUp.
There is always a point at which all good things in life must eventually come to an end, no matter what their aspect may be. It is fair to say that during the course of a career spanning more than 25 years, R&B sensation Tank has produced some timeless recordings and vibes. In the end, the Milwaukee talent will be remembered as one of the best ever to have made it to the top. The male R&B genre has benefited greatly from him. After losing his hearing in his right ear in 2021, Tank has decided to retire from the gaming industry. I hope he is able to continue contributing music for years to come. Earlier today, he released his last album, R&B Money, to the public (Aug 19).
In addition to being a bittersweet moment for most of us, being able to watch Tank’s career blossom over the years is a real honor. It also just so happens that he dropped this album at the best possible time. Social media has become a national topic of discussion after Diddy kicked it off. The question that he posed in a tweet earlier this week was, “Who killed R&B? The question led to many debates with varying answers and reasoning. Essentially, this was the type of alley-oop Tank needed to prove that R&B is far from dead.
Tank explained in a statement what motivated him to record his final album: “ R&B Money represents a labor of love I’ve put into the genre of R&B. That’s who I am! ” he declared. “My life wouldn’t be the same without artists such as Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Keith Sweat, Al Green, and all the fans who keep me motivated to make music. It was imperative to me that this album was a tribute to my influences and my development as an artist, and I think that’s exactly what this record represents.”
In early February, Montreal-born artist Lou Phelps released Touché EP, a collection of three songs showcasing his nimble rhyme style over electro-rap beats. As for the two previous tracks, the outro was produced by Lou Phelps himself, while the outro was assisted by his brother, Kaytranada. A music video for the EP’s title track also was released along with the EP.
Yesterday (August 16), Phelps released the official video to “Here We Go,” the first recording he has released on his own. This new video from Phelps is directed by Igal Perets, and it creates an intense environment as its focus is solely on him in a dark room as the lyrics play:
As we have previously mentioned, Phelps previously teamed up with Joyce Wrice and Oakland spitter Guapdad 4000 on the groovy collaboration track, “Oh Really? ” Together with the production of Agajon and additional production by Kiefer, the song was given an upbeat anthem vibe. “Oh Really?” is Lou Phelps’ first release since the mid-2021 singles “SOUND OF MONEY” and “Supersexe Freestyle.”
A new single by Nakkia Gold has been released over the weekend, titled “Energy“, an infectious track that features West Philadelphia native, Pink Sweat$. It will be released accompanied by a music video on Thursday, August 18th. With this song, the two combine their soothing voices to deliver lyrics about the importance of making sure that your energy is protected:
The most acclaimed song of her career is “JUSTICE (GET UP, STAND UP)” composed with Wiz Khalifa, Bob Marley, and The Wailers, Nakkia Gold represents the newest generation of artists to come out of South Los Angeles. In the past year, she has also released the “Sober” single with Jeremih, “Pretty Girl Habits,” as well as the three-pack containing “Yea Yea,” “Real,” and “3 Rounds.”
The Valentine’s Day soundtrack for lovers worldwide was PINK PLANET, Pink Sweat$’ debut album, released last February. PINK PLANET opened with the single “Heaven,” followed by the impressive visuals for one of the project’s most popular tracks, “At My Worst” with Kehlani.
In the wake of the recent release of a new single from Fabolous, titled “Say Less,” which features French Montana and other New Yorkers, Fabolous has dropped a new single. With production from STREETRUNNER and Tarik Azzouz, you can hear the artists boast about their wealthy lifestyle:
In addition to the song, there is also a matching video from StreetHeat. During the clip, viewers will be taken to Manhattan’s Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant named “in honor of the Asian community” as the description states. Throughout the film, Fabolous and French can be seen hanging out with gorgeous women, enjoying fine food, taking massages, and riding around New York City.
As well as “Say Less,” Fabolous also unveiled a new track titled “1 Thing Freestyle,” featuring more witty, rewind-worthy verses that he’s become known for:
Featuring Fabolous enjoying a night out in the city with his girlfriend, the video for “1 Thing Freestyle” was directed by Abeni Nazeer. This date is not revealed until the very end, when it turns out to be with Amerie.
