Yo Gotti, the renowned rapper from Memphis, is known for his relentless rise in the music industry. His journey, however, doesn’t stop at music. Gotti is making waves in the world of business, and his latest move is nothing short of impressive. This music mogul has returned to school, enrolling at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Anderson School of Management.
Back to School: The Unconventional Student
Gotti’s decision to hit the books again is a testament to his determination to excel in his business pursuits. After wrapping up his successful Gangsta Art tour with prominent artists like GloRilla, EST Gee, and Moneybagg Yo, the rapper has set his eyes on mastering ‘Corporate Valuation’, a comprehensive course taught at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X
Offered at UCLA, the Corporate Valuation course is a rigorous program designed to explore analytical tools pertinent to valuing various business aspects.
Gotti’s Business Ventures
Aside from his flourishing music career, Yo Gotti has been dabbling in various entrepreneurial ventures. His record label, Collective Music Group (CMG), received accolades from Billboard last May. Gotti is also a co-owner of the professional men’s soccer club, D.C. United, and owns Prive, a popular restaurant in Memphis. His investments span across real estate and electronic sports (esports).
Fans of Memphis rapper Yo Gotti can rejoice – his Collective Music Group label has teamed up with Interscope Records. CMG has plenty more hits to arrive by the end of the year, beginning with some heat from CMG’s CEO, as well as drops from EST Gee, 42 Dugg, and chart-topper Moneybagg Yo.
Yo Gotti and DaBaby are the perfect rap duo
Today Yo Gotti released a new single called “Drop”. DaBaby contributes a verse and beatsmith J provides the beat. It is a perfect film for post-quarantine strip clubs due to its production and subject matter:
He think we family, we not (We friends)
I be burnin’ up the top (Ugh)
I call her sis, she want the dick
We went half on a spot
We fuck on her friends together (Together)

Yo Gotti’s latest albums are receiving critical acclaim
He released the critically acclaimed I Am, The Art of Hustle, and I Still Am albums before Untrapped, his tenth studio album, and his fourth and final EP with Epic Records. This album has a wide range of features in addition to Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross and others.
The debut of Yo Gotti’s music on the Billboard 200 chart was ranked in the top ten for the fourth straight week. One of his singles was Recession Proof, another was Stay Ur Distance, and another was Wish List. He also teamed up back-to-back with Jeezy on one track.
Yak Gotti and Sheck Wes collaborated with Yung Kayo on “GFU,” which is the second single from Slime Language 2. Its release came along with an official music video, and visualizes the title which means “Get Fucked Up.” The song was produced by Taurus
The 14-year-old rapper BlocBoy JB decided to end the year in style with a new song called “You Left Me.” The song, which is produced by Cable Beatz and Karey Muney, features bars about money and violence, including:
It features a hard-hitting instrumental accompanied by a video by QK1Shot. The audience can be able to witness a well-dressed JB playing video games with an associate, displaying stacks of cash in a shoebox, and also chilling in the driver’s seat of a Maybach SUV while watching the show.
A couple of months ago, local hero BlocBoy JB teamed up with his fellow hometown hero, Tay Keith, to release the 15-track effort Bacc 2 Da Bloc, which included guest vocals from Pooh Shiesty, EST Gee, Co Cash, and SpotemGottem. After that, he teamed up with Collective Music Group and Yo Gotti, collaborating on their compilation, Gangsta Art, which dropped in May this year, specifically on the song “OK.”
There were also some interesting projects taken part in by the rapper, including a ‘Blocumentary’ series in conjunction with Keith Urban. The first episode of the documentary featured BlocBoy JB discussing how he first became acquainted with the decorated producer. He discussed:
We lived in houses that were just a few minutes’ walk from each other, making it possible for me to walk in just two minutes from mine to his. Whether I ran or didn’t, I would have been able to type crap in 30 seconds. Before I met him, I had never heard any of his beats, and the fact that he also made beats hadn’t even occurred to me. The fact that he was able to rap so well when I saw him creating in the studio was so surprising to me. Knowing they were my dear ones wasn’t difficult for me.
Evolving into a CEO is a beautiful transformation.
Most independent artists focus solely on creating music rather than learning the business components of music. Sadly, this lack of interest and discipline opens the door to immense financial exposure, betrayal, and misinformation.
You give others unparalleled power over your life when you let them control your knowledge. Generating billions of dollars, young black talented artists fuel a large portion of America’s economy. In spite of this, they receive the smallest portion of revenue from the music industry.
Music icon T-Pain stated on the wildly popular podcast ‘Drink Champs’ that record labels generated seventeen billion dollars in revenue and artists only received twelve percent! Yo Gotti, Rick Ross, Nelly, Ray J, Diddy, Drake, Jay-Z, Ludacris, 50 Cent, and more have turned from recording artists to music moguls.
Numerous platinum plaques and million-dollar entities are owned and operated by them all. Most of the artists that appear on the ‘Forbes magazine’ top 30 earnings list are CEOs.
