Nas Album “King’s Disease” Hip-Hop Album Of the Year

Nas Album “King’s Disease” Hip-Hop Album Of the Year

A win for Hip-Hop as the chosen one, “God’s Son”, Nasir Jones as he took home the Grammy for Album Of The Year with his 2020 release “King’s Disease”. The King of the Golden Era stands firm on his delivery of black excellence without hesitation. Understanding what it takes to make a classic album is one thing doing it is another. Already on record for having arguably the most influential album of all time in “Illmatic”, Nas captures the culture again with the same formula using different ingredients. The 5 pillars of Hip-Hop, Dance, Graffiti, Rap, the DJ who now is often replaced with the producer, and Education of the people.

While the Grammys have made an extra effort to address its lack of acknowlegment regarding rap and hip-hop music, it has rapidly pushed to correct itself. The genre has undergone massive changes since The Fresh Prince first led a hip-hop boycott of the 1989 ceremony to protest the Grammys not televising the new Best Rap Performance award. The Fresh Prince is now better known for his extensive filmography and the family first lifestyle he promotes more than his mic skills, it showed the world the versatility of our youth in entertainment.

Fast forward to 2020 a year of riots, protest, a push for reform on all levels across the world for equality and spiritual warfare we crown Hip-Hop. “King’s Disease” embodies the elements with soul and presents a an album that can be played by all walks of life. You don’t have to be a fan of Nas to gain from his art, in which he reaches the masses once again but with the gold coming home to Mass Appeal.

Beating out an almost flawless “A Written Testimony” by Jay Electronica that only lacked the radio friendly sound Nas captured, and a sonically unflawed “Alfredo” by Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist “King’s Disease” is as Illmatic as it gets. Being able to play in any order and not skip a song on top of the legendary features what more could you ask for?

Nas had guest appearance from Charlie Wilson, Hit-Boy, Big Sean, Don Toliver, Lil Durk, Anderson Paak, Brucie B, Nas’s supergroup The Firm, Fivio Foreign, and ASAP Ferg. The album art by the talented artist Honeiee was full of royalty and excellence with a touch of God to honor the mindset of the project. congrats King!

Drake delivers another epic overnight surprise with Scary Hours 2 EP

Drake delivers another epic overnight surprise with Scary Hours 2 EP

Drake’s latest Scary Hours 2 EP is out now. In 2018, the rapper released the first Scary Hours EP, which featured the songs “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity,” just months before releasing his most recent studio album, Scorpion.

Lil Baby and Rick Ross are featured on the three-song set.

Before delaying the album, the rapper planned to release his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, in January 2021. “I was hoping to release my album this month, but my focus has been devoted to recovery between surgery and rehab,” Drake wrote in an Instagram story in January. “I’m grateful to be back on my feet and concentrating on the record, but CLB will not be released in January. In 2021,  Darke stated “I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all.”

Drake teased Certified Lover Boy — his first formal studio album since 2018’s Scorpion — with the release of “Laugh Now Cry Later,” which featured Lil Durk back in August. Drake has released two limited edition compilations since Scorpion: Care Package, which compiled material from 2010 to 2016, and Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which arrived in May 2020 and contained more recent leaks and one-off records, such as his TikTok-friendly single “Toosie Slide.”

Throughout the last decade, Drake has been the most streamed and highest-grossing music artist. He’s broken every possible music record and continues to do so in 2021. Drake shows no signs of slowing down or relinquishing his place as the most famous rapper in the world. Drake can’t leave rap; the game needs him!

Jay Z sells TIDAL to Square and expands its global reach

Jay Z sells TIDAL to Square and expands its global reach

Tidal, the music streaming service started by Jay-Z, has been purchased by Twitter, the payments firm, of which CEO Jack Dorsey is a significant investor. Tidal co-owner Jay-Z took a 33% stake in the company and will now be a member of the board of directors. He better gets some time off the clock if he’s inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was said that artists would be “empowered” by this agreement. This contract is designed to support artists and help the industry as a whole. As he has said in other tweets, it’s a big deal for many people; the fact that Jack and I have discussed TID’s possibilities only serves to make me more optimistic about its future. This universal desire makes me all the more eager to be a part of the Square board.

While the concept was uncomplicated, it took a long time to put together; Dorsey claims the project actually started when he stumbled upon new ways for artists to fund their own endeavors. “With what we’ve been able to do for the cash-for-transaction vendors, we also feel we can help the artists we represent now,” he noted We’re going to start with the small and concentrate on the most essential fan bases. Dorsey also stated that Jay-Z will serve on the advisory board, which will span the company’s entirety, not just Tidal. And as well as Tidal’s “celebrity and creative spirit,” such as songs like Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” and Puff Daddy’s “Come Fly With Me,” we’re all included in his public social media posts on the same day.

Tidal confirms that rapper Jay-Z and other artists, including Rihanna and Kanye West, purchased it as an artist-owned streaming service in 2015. Per Forbes, Jay-Z had previously sold a third of the company to T-Mobile; last week, he re-bought the shares he had once sold to Sprint, now taking control of the company. Dorsey and Jay-Z first discussed the acquisition of Tidal with the press a few months ago.
